Close to fantastic Breakfast.
The most important part of the breakfast was excellent...Green Eggs and Ham (Scrambled eggs with Mozzarella, pesto and Ham) were spot on, and my brides Breakfast Burrito delivered the goods. The remaining star is withheld due to cold potatoes and cold toast...OUCH. And, while the service was caring, it was obvious that our server was taxed with too many tables creating an apologetic but slow breakfast.
We REALLY wanted to like Hi Spot but in the end it was Kinda Hi-Spot for us.
Cute space, great breakfast, and friendly face. I only have one thing to say. Ask for Greg! He is so nice, everything else falls into place. The food speaks for itself!
Great breakfast!. I don't go out to breakfast much, so breakfast places are memorable to me-- good or bad. The Hi Spot is one of the good. There were 8 of us who got there around 8am (when it opens) and although we each ordered something different and the food all came at the same time, and service was pleasant and prompt. Most importantly though, the food was delicious. The pancake I ordered was crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle (no rubber discs here!) and the scones are delicious- I had to get 2 to-go!!
Great even if you don't live in Madrona. I love breakfast here on the weekends. It's such a great atmosphere of busy but calmed down with the old house feel around you. I also take a scone for the road no matter one...serioulsly to die for with my latte.
Head to Madrona for a great breakfast and a good dose of homespun charm..
The Scene
This is one of Seattle's premier breakfast spots, but the cozy atmosphere translates well into afternoon, with fresh flowers and candlelight illumating the pale dining room. Speedy servers cart platters of cheese-baked eggs and massive cinnamon rolls throughout the converted Victorian home for crowds of eager diners.
The Food
Most of the staples are safe bets, but the daring diner should order the Bengal Benedict: This variation on the classic pairs poached eggs with a velvety curry that works wonderfully. The three-egg breakfast burrito usually requires a to-go box. The lunch menu features classics like Reubens, melts and a good grilled veggie sandwich.
Best Brunch Date Spot.
First I must gush about the food... the omelets are stuffed to the brim and over flowing with only the best ingredients (try the northwest omelet), the potatoes are hearty, perfectly seasoned, and never leave a grease pit on your plate, and the side of toast that comes with just about every plate on the menu consists of thick slices of Seattle?s most whole some artisan breads.
Despite the constant line formed in the foyer cafe, the services is always quick, courteous and more than happy to customize your order. I particularly like being offered a scone or muffin while waiting in the cafe for a table.
Great breakfast spot.. I had the Northwest Exposure omelette and my boyfriend had the customized omelette. Both were excellent. They came with home fries and toast. The home fries were pretty good and the toast was very yummy, especially with the berry jam. The place itself appears to be a renovated home, with a bathtub in the bathroom and everything. The decor is cute and modern. The staff was relatively attentive, if somewhat distracted because the place was busy. Even so, we were seated after only a few minutes of waiting and our food came very soon after we ordered. There's no parking lot, but it's in an area where there's quite a bit of free parking on the street. We'll definitely be adding this to our rotation of breakfast restaurants.
best coffee around. this place is great for b-fast,but the real prize here is the coffee. The barista's are well traned and friendly. Go during the week to avoid crowds.
Nice Relaxing Brunch. Out of all the places I could have breakfast in the city, I consistently return to the Hi-Spot. It's so warm and cozy, I almost feel like I could go in my PJ's and not get stared at. The food is so wonderful - so many choices! From vegan dishes, to scrambles, to breakfast burritos to scrumptious, in-house pastries, chances are you'll find something you like here! The pancakes are fantastic! I'm a big fan of the Green Eggs and Ham and the Tofu Scramble. The old Victorian Home makes for some super nice atmsophere. Seriously, this is the most relaxing, laid back place for a leisurely weekend breakfast!
Wonderful Everything!. This has been my favorite breakfast spot for the past 6 years. The food is ALWAYS wonderful. The service is great. Sure, the wait can be long during peak brunch hours - but what good restaurant isn't? The food is worth the wait and it arrives promptly once you order. If you DO have to wait, grab a coffee from the espresso bar and stroll through the neighborhood. Cupcake Royale/Verite Coffee is just down the street. The great thing about the Hi-Spot? It's consistently good with a menu that can satisfy the pickiest of eaters! Also a good spot for vegetarians as egg-white and veggie omelettes and tofu scrambles are one the menu! Breakfast in a converted, funky old Madrona home...makes you feel like you're at a friend's house.
