Nasty things in the food. This was in about 1998, so hopefully things are better these days. However, the place is always great if you are hungry late at night and don't have much cash to spare.
Cheap, speedy, and reliable. This place (the site finds the name "inappropriate"!) is simple and reliable. The menu has evolved only slightly since I began eating cheeseburgers and fries at the 45th St location in 1965. My last few visits (I live in Yakima now) have been at the 30th Ave site. It's quick, and cheap. The crewmembers still take orders without writing them down. My son and I enjoy their fresh-cut fries, but my wife finds them soggy and greasy. In the dark ages we had to order and pay for the fries at a seperate window--something about dedicating one specific employee to take charge and protect the integrity of the fries. Thankfully, they stopped that practice a long time ago. Another reviewer mentioned the nostalgia of the place. That still draws me in. Would I say the food is great? No, not really, but I like it. I never cared much for their Deluxe burger, but I still buy a couple of cheeseburgers and maybe two orders of fries on those rare times I visit. I could probably list myriad places that serve a fancier burger, or maybe just a better burger, but I've never been disappointed at any of this small chain's outlets. I can't say that for many other places I've visited. I still enjoy going there, even if my wife complains.
yummy burgers and fries. best spot to stop and eat after a sonic, baseball, football games. Great tasty burger, fries and shakes and cheap
Best burgers and fries combo. Great place to grab a bite to eat whenever you have the urge for a sloppy burger made with tartar sauce or freshly sliced fries. Always a good night time drop by after a heavy night of partying. Never pass up on getting the whole meal deal of a delux burger, french fries and your choice of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry shake all for under $6. Cheap, great taste, good service, open really late.
cheap greasy eats. So it's definitely not as good as California's In-and-Out but there's something fun about getting a simple burger and fries for a buck or two and eating it standing outside the drive in. The service is pretty quick and the food definitely satisfies a grease craving.
Best fast food?. What the devil is the fascination with the food in this place? Ok, so people feel nostalgic over this famous Seattle institution, thats fine, but as far as Dicks serving the best fast food here, i couldn't disagree more. Whats even more puzzling is that some here are even comparing or worse yet, elevating Dicks above In n out.
Seattle's legendary burger-flipping and milkshake-slinging take-out joint, going strong since 1954..
In Short
Dick Spady's orange-hued drive-in is Seattle's answer to the Golden Arches. The later it gets, the younger the crowd as teenagers and college partiers stop in for late-night fuel. The Dick's Deluxe comes topped with American cheese and a squirt of pickle-specked mayo. Hand-cut fries (pay a few cents extra for ketchup or tartar sauce) and Vitarich milkshakes are meant to be eaten in the front seat of the car, radio blaring.
Prison-grade tripe. Prison-grade tripe is right. I wouldn't serve this "food" to my worst enemy. I can not believe that Dick's has become as popular as it has in Seattle. Don't you people care what you put into your bodies? Tradition needs to go out the window on this place. Let's give it up and let it become an empty lot.
Dicks, what?!. My friend said it best... "passing by Dicks is like going by a gorgeous 'lady-of-leisure', you know it's wrong, but it tempts you every time!"
