Avoid prissy courses.
Golfers beware, these guys think they are hot stuff. Its takes a guantlet of automated phone buttons to get a T-time. What they won't tell you is that if you don't check in 15 minutes before your T-time they will give it to somebody else. We got there 10 minutes before our T-time and they wouldn't let us on the course. No wonder they change management every other year, that should tell you something. Course isn't that great to play on to make the hassle worth it and it takes five hours to get a round in.. Never again.
One of the city's oldest public golf courses is a nice challenge.. In Short The toughest holes at Jackson Park are at the first, the eighth, and the eighteenth holes. A big drive is required on the par-5 first hole in order to go for the green in two. The eighth hole is a killer par 3--it's 216 yards from the blue tees, and is bordered by bunkers and Thornton Creek. The finishing hole is only a 401-yard par 4, but the green slopes severely from left to right.
