This longtime Seattle wine merchant carries a wide selection of vintages from all over the world..
The Scene
This Seattle wine merchant spent more than 28 years at its small location on First Avenue. Although it was sometimes difficult to find (wedged between two larger buildings), wine enthusiasts sought out the small store for its knowledgeable staff and well-priced selections. However, the store suddenly found itself in the shadows of a big new neighbor: Safeco Field. In late 1998, the store packed up its goods and moved to this more expansive locale, replete with a warehouse in back.
The Goods
Despite the new location, business goes on as usual, including the store's popular wine tastings, usually on Saturday afternoons and Thursday evenings. The store offers terrific prices on specials, especially if you're buying by the case.
Great events +. Everyone is always helpful & knowledgeable. We enjoy seeing new items & they have an excellent variety. We having been using them for our wine needs & advice for a long time & will continue to do so. The wine tastings are good, the events you buy tickets for are really worthwhile. The Champagne spectacular around the holidays was wonderful as usual this season & at no additional charge.
No Contest.... Esquin is where you go for bargains but they have sorta lost a step in the past couple of years. They've succumbed to the trend of carrying more upper-tier wines when they clearly made their bones in value stuff. They devote a whole ROOM to French, a lot of which is dishwater, and barely cover Australia or Spain, where the real bargains are. They've always been knowledgeable but have hired a few stiffs lately and they don't seek out customers the way they once did. Still great but off their game.
I have found my wine source..
Since I began my journey into wine about a year ago, I had been looking for a shop that met my needs.
Esquin is that place. I willingly drive from Federal Way to there, even though they ship $100+ orders free to my home.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the selection is great, and the prices are very good.
big. You almost can find everything, but you have to look for a long time. Product variety is great, but how do you find the values???
Tour the Wine World. Feels like a warehouse but the selection of wines will keep you coming back. The staff is extremely helpful & knowledgable. The also have great wine tasting events.
