I came to King's with a part out of a Mercedes valve body I broke. The factory quoted over $1000 to replace it, so I spent about a month trying to find an alternative source. Today I was referred to King's Transmission, and am glad I went in. They told me that it is impossible to find the part without the rest of the valve body, so they took apart a valve body and gave me the part, for free. King's is one of the few honest transmission shops I've found.…
DISHONEST, DON'T GO HERE!!!!!. I brought my car there. They asked me to sign the work order or invoice before they wrote on it. I said that doesn't sound right to me. Ken Armstrong said don't worry we have been in business a long time. We are trustworthy. I believed him. They took my transmission system apart without my authorization. I ended up having to pay them $485 in cash to get my car and my transmission parts out of their shop. I took them to small claims court but Mark Shaw lied on the stand. The burden of proof was on me. The judge ruled in favor of them. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! READ ALL OF THE REVIEWS ON YELP, CITY SEARCH, AND JUDY'S BOOK. THEY HAVE SEVERAL ACCOUNTS ON EACH SITE. I WISH I HAD BEFORE I DECIDED TO TAKE MY CAR THERE.…
Simple - don't go here!.
It appears King's purges negative reviews (and I have read many) while they stack in some dubious "reviews" that seem pretty transparent.
My experience was one of the most unpleasant experiences I've had with any business anywhere.
They took in my car after I had a shifting problem with a pickup. "Mark" said they'd "have a look". I checked back the next day to be told it was "shot" and needed a complete overhaul. I was quoted $2300. A new tranny from the dealer was less! I told Mark I'd have to check the budget on that and in the meantime I'd pick up the truck and park it. I checked about 10 other transmission shops - all of whom quoted $400-$1000 less!
Upon arriving to get the truck I was handed a bill for $527. I asked him (Mark) "What did you fix"? He said "Nothing", but that was the work they'd already put into "inspecting it". Keep in mind I'd received NOTHING in the way of an estimate and had given NO authorization for any charge over $100 - as is required by law! I told "Mark" I wouldn't pay. He said that was "fine", and my transmission was in pieces in the back of my truck and the truck was blocked in the shop and would stay right there until I gave in and paid. As he said that he patted my truck with a smirk as if it was his private property now. That began over a month of listening to threats, lies, and utter deception form this bunch of thugs. I went through the legal process, going through all the right motions. Showed up there with a tow truck to retrieve my illegally held property only to be refused. Told Mark I'd see him in court. After a couple weeks, "Mark" called me to arrange something. I told him I wanted damages for them holding my truck illegally. He said "Nope" and I hung up. He called me again about a week later wondering "what we could do". I said I had already told him and it was not negotiable. Had an attorney call them. Okay - they'd pay me out and release my truck to me. I get there to have Mark tell me "no check". There's your truck with the disassembled transmission. At that point I just looked at him and asked. "Mark, what is it with you? Nothing you say is the truth. Ever."
I called the attorney and explained to him I am just sick to DEATH of dealing with these people. Just sick of it! We filed suit for damages and for lost use of my vehicle for EVERY SINGLE DAY King's held it hostage. My attorney did this for free, simply because after talking to "Mark" on the phone he was so damned mad himself he wanted to do it just on principle. King's capitulated once they found ought I was not going away and I would not be intimidated by their silly little goon acts. They agreed to pay me $2500 to drop the suit. I went to pick up the truck to find "Mark" had "altered the deal" again - as is his nature. No money, no check - but they had overhauled my tranny (without ANY authorization to do so). Mark had some little mechanic running around snapping photos of my as i sat in the truck - I guess to "prove" I had taken possession. Then like a comedy show - they all jumped in their vehicles and sped off from their own lot. I threw the keys back in the drop box and called the attorney. Just being on that lot at that business made me feel like I should go shower. My attorney told them we'd proceed with the suit again. At that point - they offered $1500, so with that and the "overhaul" I'd gotten from this outfit, we dropped it. Nice business huh?
Just stop and think for a moment... I'm not the sort to be intimidated by little clowns, but let's say it's a kid, or a senior citizen, or a single parent short on cash who they could intimidate and basically threaten to get what they want - and clearly that's worked before. But they were a little shocked it didn't work this time, and I won NOT because they had any concern or conscience, but only because I had the motivation and means (and I had other vehicles) to stand up in their face while they played their little game time and time again.…
Fabulous.. When precious Mitsubishi evo started having a transmission problem I didn't know who to call. I had heard about King's from a friend. So I called and talked to Kenny. I made arrangements to drop it off the same day. He was very friendly, professional, and I knew right then and there I came to the right place. He took care of me like I was family, and fixed my car in no time! Very good job, would definitely recommend to everyone I know.…
They don't honor warranty. After spending thousands of dollars there, the tranmission was still not smooth. I went back within a month, but they don't honor their work and warranties. Mark just blame other issues in the car. I took it to another tranmission shop for free evaulation. They claimed that it was the poor and unprofessional job Mark has put in. This is very frustrating how they treat their customers who have already paid so much.…
