The Scene
Even on cold, rainy nights, locals crowd inside this cozy spot, located in a small strip mall. The blond-wood paneling surrounding the cashier and bar area provide an overall casual feel: this is a no-frills, pleasantly efficient atmosphere with swift service.
The Food
The warm roti canai, an Indian-style bread with a savory tomato-curry sauce makes an excellent starter. Other appetizers include a satisfying chicken satay and a fat, fresh veggie roll (popiah). More daring diners should try rojak, a crazy mix of yam gravy, chili sauce, cucumbers and jicama served over shrimp chip tofu. Tamer tastes can opt for the Penang Chow Kueh Teow, a popular staple of flat noodles with shrimp, egg and bean sprouts in black soya-chili sauce. Less successful are the Malaysian Chinese pork chops--thin, semi-tough cutlets in a peanut-y barbecue sauce.

I've been a regular here for 6 years. Since it burned down and re-built something HAS become different. It used to be my favortie for comfort food, service, and quality; now I find all three lacking. The one reviewer who mentioned that the Owner spends time at the Redmond location may be right~ maybe that's why it's not as good, and the service has deteriorated. The green beans were greasy, the fish was really fishy, and even the roti wasn't soft and palatable this time. I don't think we finished anything we ordered. The only thing that I did still enjoy was the curry dip for the roti. I asked for a side of rice and poured it over the top. I'm not a squeamish eater, so I would have to say that the fish should NOT have tasted like that at all. I have another beef as well~ they sent out "fliers" that they now deliver, yet EVERY time I have called for delivery, they aren't delivering. Don't advertise something you're not good at is my advice. I know I'll go back agian, but not for a while.
