Best Bakery in Seattle. I've lived in Seattle 22 years, and during those moments when I just had to have a treat, this is where I have gone. I've tried Krispy Kreme donuts, and I'm not saying they aren't good. But for variety, for authenticity, for delicious, fresh pastry from one of this city's first businesses (I've read the roof is actually worth more than the business, because handmade clay tile roofs have become so rare!)...for these and a million other reasons, I come to Borracchini's.

If you are ordering a cake, the cake will be done (as in, baked) when it should be, but they will take a few minutes to frost and decorate it once you get there, so set your time about 15 minutes before you really do need to dash out of there. They have an infinite variety of cake fillings and decorations (and as to the marble cake basher: I ordered a marble cake for my students for Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday, and boy was it ever great!). I have never requested butter creme frosting because I love their original recipe, and I have yet to see any student, teacher, or guest in my home scrape the frosting off to the side.

I think the reason the frost it aftr you get there is partly because some like to watch the process, but also because....what do you do with "happy 28th birthday Mikey" when no one shows to pick it up? It's a business that does not have a huge profit margin. They need to know you are buying it, before they personalize it. This is just a theory; neither Mr. nor Mrs. has ever said it to me, nor have I asked. But it seems like a good guess.

Okay. Let's talk about service. They went through a period--maybe it was when they were opening the W. Seattle store?--when there was heavy turnover. None of their employees seemed to know anything. I put up with the dreadful service (2009? I am guessing; it's been awhile!) because the food was still so good.

Yes, there were some snarky clerks. They're gone now; it's safe to go back in the water! In fact, I am a disabled customer--I walk with a cane--and unless they are swamped, someone will walk my cake or big boxes of donuts to my car for me. How sweet is that?

For the best treats in town, plus a piece of Seattle history, come to Borracchini's!

Half a**ed attention to detail. The cake looked nice and the part they actually got right tasted pretty good. But I was NOT impressed when I cut into the cake. Their idea of "marble" is one bottom slab totally chocolate with some vanilla thrown in as an after thought (I'll add a picture if I can). I also paid the premium price to have butter cream frosting versus the nasty whipped frosting I can't stand. Looks as if they started withe the whipped frosting then - oops- switched to the butter cream. Hoping the customer would be to stupid to notice. Well I did notice. HALF the cake is with this disgusting whipped icing funny they didn't have a problem taking my money for the premium frosting. They also managed to spell my sons name wrong though I spelled it 3 times. I got a hasty fix they day I picked it up-glad I looked at it before leaving. If they could pay a little more attention to quality control their cakes would be decent.

Rude. I have been here a few times in the last five years. They are horribly rude. I came in to pick up my cake order and they had lost it. They were extremely rude when I asked what had happend. Didn't apologize, basically blamed it on me, the customer...

I was in there today and a nice gentleman came in to pick up his cake and they had lost his cake order as well. He said it was the second time in two weeks that this has happend. Whoever was there, wish I would have caught her name, was so horrible to the gentleman and was rolling her eyes, etc. This unacceptable in my opinion.

Pros: Delicious baked goods!

Cons: Rude managment

My birthday cake. I was celebrating my 65th Birthday and because I didn't live in the area I traveled 40 miles to order a cake from Borracchini's. I picked the cake up the day before my birthday and was totally surprised that the cake decorating looked like a 5 year old had done it. I told them that is not what I ordered and the girl trying to be pleasant told me they would redo it. It was suppose to have cherry buds in delicate colors instead I got blue cherry blossoms? Anyone ever seen blue cherry blossoms? she showed me a picture and I oked it and they redid the cake telling me it would be $6.00 more. I was so upset I said ok but then I just couldn't believe it when the cake came out and ...well omg...I will never go back. I paid for the cake and left and I will never return. My heart at this point was broke believing I would have a wonderful cake and I didn't. I took the cake to my local bakery and they removed the decoration and put cherry blossoms that where so beautiful. I had to pay nothing even they where amazed if it hadn't been in the box they would have never believed it came from there. They have lost a good customer I will never go back to that store...I will stay with my home town bakery they are the best...Oh bye the way the cake wasn't that great either...Diane Amundson, Tacoma
