I've eaten at this restaurant several times over the past few months but last night, when I took my son and friends there for a birthday dinner, we received very poor service. The wait to order was ridiculous but what happened after we got our food really irritated us. Not one visit from our server. No drink refills, asking if everything is ok, checking on us at all. We even had a reservation so there was no surprise that our party of 8 would need attention. The place wasn't even half full so it's not as if they were just overwhelmed. It put a negative spin on our celebration. We get better service from Azteca which is where we'll spend our money next time. I know some folks that are loyal to Viva and that's great for them. We just expect better than what we got.

Still my favorite mexican food. Well I'm not a "fat white person" and I go to Viva and I love it. (Actually I am white, but not fat. At least not yet). Sounds like one of the previous reviewers is a bit of a food snob. I don't think Viva's chile rellano is the greatest either but I've been going there for 12 years and most everything on the menu is really good. You want 100% authentic? Go to Mexico. Even then, you aren't guaranteed it. Stop at a taco truck. You want Americanized Mexican food (but not the extreme of Taco Bell), go to Viva. It's great. And the waitstaff are really nice too.

worst fake mexican in town. This is what people who have never had good Mexican think Mexican is about- ketchupy red sauces, piles of cheddar cheese and sour cream, and zero flavor. The clientele is white and fat- a sure sign of mediocrity. I could see how embarrased the staff was to work there when I spoke to them in Spanish. When I got my enchiladas and my friend his chile relleno, I knew why. It's almost inedible. Yuck.

GREAT FOOD!. The food is always great here and the staff is fantastic. If you like good novelty drinks, ask for a cucaracha. They bring it in a shot glass & ba ng it on a board to make it fizz. The whole restaurant will know what you're drinking & will sometimes cheer you on.

Great place. I love this place. It is my favority mexican place in the Seattle area. Their dishes are pretty, generous and tasty.

(Just don't order the fried ice cream... yuck! I don't think anybody had ever ordered it before me and it tasted like old freezer garlic).
