In Short – In 1875, builder Morgan Carteek donated 23 acres of rock-and-sand beach in Piper's Canyon north of Greenwood to the city of Seattle. Located on Lake Washington's Pontiac Bay, park facilities include soccer and softball fields, picnic tables and stove shelters. Explore a bit and you'll find an archery range and an old skid road.

This is a top spot for relaxing and watching the sun melt behind the olympics on a clear evening. We've also seen many types of water fowl here.
Bring a picnic & a camera!

A Introspective Haven
by abusa37
Ever wanted to pretend that you're filthy rich and live on acres and acres of green land, so many that you have to take a narrow, twisty road to your mansion? Then Carkeek Park is a must visit, with the charming drive ending with a beach and beautiful view of the Puget Sound. There is still some sense of remoteness in this city.
- Pros: variety of landscape, picnic areas
- Cons: unsafe after dark
