In Short – Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

All hype... no value

by kristofuh at Citysearch

Should've stayed "down under". I've given this hyped up place the benefit of the doubt more times than I care to admit. The food is awful and way overpriced. My Aussie friend's comment was "How emabrassing". If you do decide to ignore the warnings, be sure to avoid anything with chicken, fish, steak, or pork. The steamed vegetables were tasty and the baked potato was pretty good. They do have a good "Bloomin' Onion", too - but still... I can get that cheaper elsewhere.

Doesn't Know How to Cook Chicken

by cutebirdie at Citysearch

If you go here, avoid any chicken dish. Their line cooks don't seem to be knowledgeable about the protocol on cooking a juicy piece of chicken. Our chicken was not only dry, but it stuck in our throat. Thank heavens for water.

  • Pros: Parking
  • Cons: Overcooked meat dishes, decrepit looking building

So-so Service With Soo Good Steaks

by spankmehard at Citysearch

It can get pretty noisy in here - this mid-priced steak house is a hot spot. There's not a huge selection of steaks. I highly recommend the Victoria's Filet, but the Outback Special and Outback Style Prime Rib are also very delicious. The Prime Minister's Prime Rib, however, was very plain. The Bloomin' Onion was only 1/2 of the size as in the picture, and was mostly fried batter. The Coconut Shrimp is great, and the marmalade sauce is worth keeping for the steak. Try the strawberry margarita (blended)! Of course this is a mid-class steak house, and unfortunately, the service has had its share of hit and miss. Ive been here for dates, hanging out with the buddies and a birthday The Outback is a great casual fill for any of these situations if you dont mind the 10-20 minute wait.

  • Pros: Steaks, Coconut Prawns, Margaritas
  • Cons: Long Waits, Service (sometimes)
