In Short – The University of Washington has one of the prettiest campuses anywhere. Other draws: top nursing and medical schools; breakthrough research in genetics, international studies, chemistry and psychology; and one of the largest research libraries in North America. The University of Washington--better known as "U-Dub"--opened in 1861, first in what is now downtown Seattle, and then to its current location, which came to be known as the University District (or just the U-District).

The Best Educational Experience

I love the University of Washington. The diversity, people, community, dining, and life as a college city-within-a-city is amazing. The people have a cool vibe, are educated, politically sane, articulate, and well informed. The area itself, including the eclectic U-District, features an endless amount of restaurants, cafes, ice cream shops, coffee shops (gasp!), thrift stores, media stores, music shops, trendy boutiques, and plenty of vibrant unique stores - you have to pop in to see what its all about. Overall, the campus is breathtaking, the faculty world-reknowned, and the area very hip and trendy.
