The Scene – It's not glamorous, but character abounds. Windowsills are dotted with fish tchotchkes, bottles of ketchup, and salt and pepper shakers. The dining area almost seems like an accident, with limited counter seating and a handful of tables anchored with rolls of paper towels. But perhaps the front door best articulates the spirited atmosphere, in reference to the beloved proprietor: "Chuck Gibbs: Owner, Father, Crazy Man, Lover, Fighter, Smells Like a Fish, All-Around Good Friend." – – The Food – This place has fresh fish in droves, including cod, halibut,…
Best Seafood In Snohomish County

My first post: Chucks has the best captains platter. You have to try it. It is around 17 bucks, I think? It is well worth it when you split it with another friend because the size is large. No skimping on anything in this. It has salmon, cod, oysters, clams, shrimp, calamari and scallops on a bed of fries and you dont have to fight for any one piece because there is enough to go around. Everything at Chucks is hand battered and very fresh. You can also purchase fresh seafood and shellfish from Chuck himself. We buy a bushel of oysters from him all the time and you can pre order. My other favorite is the seafood wrap, also as well done as the captain platter. My 3 teenagers love the fish and chips and it actually fills them up. I use to drive to Chucks from another town just to get my fix on clam chowder, he has his own recipe that is not the same as anyone else.
I've ate at Chucks dozens of times, had friendly and prompt service and very fun lively music in the summer while sitting outside enjoying the weather and people watching. I like the outdoor atmosphere with his huge beautiful baskets of flowers all around. If you want to visit Snohomish and want really good fried seafood, if your going to risk the calories I suggest you do it here. Also, I just noticed he is doing crawfish, all you can eat now!
Great food, not so clean

The food at Chuck's Seafood was really good. I ordered a wrap and it filled my whole plate. All the chucks of seafood where huge. Good quality. They didn't try to fill it with cheap stuff to cut costs. Prices where a little high but right for the food. However, the cleanliness of the place wasn't so great. The bathroom looked like a typical gas station bathroom, dirty. The picnic style table cloths had black on them from all the dirty and grease. The kitchen looked dirty. The one high chair they had looked so old and dirty I opted to hold my son. I would still recommend going there. It would just be a much better place if they cleaned up a bit.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Not a clean enviroment
Good battered fish and chips
by wahine at Citysearch
Chuck's is a fine place to eat in the summer time. Grab an outside table overlooking the river and watch the planes from Harvey Field scoot overhead. Their battered fish are great, so are the scallops. I'd avoid the unbattered fish because they seems to spank them with paprika and that's about it. They're nearly flavorless. The clams are good, but they get a little repetitive. The service can be a touch slow, but they're always welcoming.
- Pros: Battered fish, Ambience in summer
