The Scene
This is a family-run resort where Puget Sounders and Portlanders go year-round to get away from it all. Since it's located right on a Pacific Ocean beach, many come in winter to watch the storms. Others bring the kids during summer holidays. When the weather is nice you can beach comb or walk for miles along the shore. The family pooch is welcome to come along.
The Details
The resort offers 29 rooms in a variety of styles including studios, duplexes and cottages. Studios have private baths and kitchens, as well as balconies or decks. The duplexes are ideal for families and large groups, accommodating up to 11 people. They include kitchens, living rooms and up to two bedrooms. Cabin cottages with ocean views can also house up to 10 people.

My reservations for Iron Springs Resort were for this last week (8/08). When we arrived I was told check-in time was 4:00 pm. I told the person at the desk (we found out later she was the manager) when I reserved our cottage, check-in time was given as 3:00. She said to come back at 3:00 which we did. We were given the keys to the cottage and we drove up the hill. I was a bit taken aback when I looked around; grounds, stairs, porch ... very unkempt and dirty. I thought, well if the inside is clean I could put up with the dirty porch. When we opened the door we were met with a VERY wet floor. We took paper towels and wiped the floors down ... the paper towels were VERY DIRTY (the floors had NOT been cleaned). In fact everything in the cottage was DIRTY; pet hair, human hair, huge dust bunnies, dirty toilet, wet bath towels hung in the bathroom, pet hair all over the bedspreads! I took the very dirty (black dirt) paper towels and bath towel down to registration and placed them on the desk and said I’d NEVER seen a beach resort so filthy dirty! The manager asked if I wanted my money back ... my answer, of course, was yes! She gave me a receipt to that effect. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
