Bottomless popcorn, drinks themed toward the feature film and a cozy, intimate setting, the Big Picture offers a dinner and movie experience unlike any other. Locally owned and ran, the theater has a great neighborhood vibe and openness to it!
Fun Date Night!!.
For Christmas I was given a gift certificate to this place--I had never been before. I just moved to Belltown so it was a great gift! I called ahead asking about using it and they set aside two tickets for me, telling me to get there 30 minutes early. Glad I did because it was a sold out show-I was told the weekends almost always sell out.
I had two drinks and popcorn with white cheddar-which was included in my gift certificate. My date got a beer and I got a Brazilian type of limey rum drink, which was delicious. The staff was very friendly-unusual for Seattle-and they even brought me another drink mid-movie, which was a greyhound martini. My date stuck with beer. I had a great time and will be back!!
DONT GO HERE!!!.
I would NOT tell anyone to EVER go here, I thought It would be a fun night to get some drinks and a Movie in Seattle.
I purchased my Tickets on-line and took my boyfriend out to Eat before hand . We got there a little late, but still way BEFORE the movie even started, due to not being from around Seattle area we got a little lost.
When we arrived we were greeted with frowns and rude staff right off the bat. They said we could not sit together because we were too late and we needed to "hurry up and order drink and have a seat". The girl that was working at the bar had an attitude and was on her cell phone when asking what we would like to drink. Apparently she was the Manager? (or so she said) then another girl was "cleaning" and kept looking up at us laughing with another girl that was standing behing us. I dont feel uncomfortable usually but I think anyone would when this is how "EMPLOYEES" are acting during buisness hours.
At that point I was very frusterated and did not even want to stay. I simply asked if they could just refund my money since I put it on my card and they told me there was no way possibly to do such thing. But anyone knows that if you can process a payment you can refund it. I went on and on with them for a few min and finally asked for the owners phone number. I got ahold of him and he appologized but did not care much that his staff was so rude and un-professional and just told me he would get me my money back. I never did recive it and thought I would share my experiance so this same thing does not happen to you!!
VIP Package = Very Inflated Price Package.
I went here recently for one of their "packages" for my girlfriend's birthday party. In the end, it wasnt worth what I spent. The place is good for catching a movie as it is a fairly unique venue. But the "sexy VIP" package was a exorbenant disappointment. $175 bucks for a room that you could probably sit in if you didnt reserve it, and all your money buys you is cheap bottle of champagne (read: 1 bottle) and a chocolate treat for your guests... Which is literally a cup of chocolate covered almonds. Thats it. I didnt get a cake because they told me there would be a treat for each of my guests... OK, 4 chocolate almonds is not exceptable. They dont have any speakers to connect to an iPod in the room i reserved, it comes with no food. They try and charge you $75 as a cleaning fee if you want to eat anything regardless of there being anything to clean up. And talk about VIP treatment, as soon as everyone else going to see the same showtime (patrons outside my small group), there was no one available to get drinks for my party. I mean, what the hell? This is an idea that has a long way to come before they should be asking people to pay this price. The price didnt include any movie tickets either. Really, what a scam. Then they charged my card twice for the $175. The owner called me back to appologize for doing so.. I should have told him how poorly executed this night was. In my opinion, they shouldnt even advertise this option because you would probably have more fun either setting your money on fire or flushing it down the toilet.
1 star because I liked the movie
*edit to this review*
After writing this review, the owner called to appologize again. He did not ask for this review to be removed. He was not hostile. He was a gentleman and stood up for his business and I respect that. However, what I said was true, and passive aggressive insults arent going to change that. But the effort is worth 2 stars.
Great Place for a Group of Friends; aDate and a Chick Flick!.
This place is big fun for a group outing to the movies. Great locale in Belltown, near other things to do before or after the movie. Fun drinks. Fun popcorn, served in faux silver pots with yummy sprinked flavors. My new hubby doesn't mind seeing chick flicks like the Twilight saga here because he can have a drink while I am engrossed in the flick. :)
I see that initial reviews for this place were great, and in recent years very poor; I am a voice saying that I have been a semi-regular customer for 5 years, and I see the same product now as then -- fun, a unique service at your seats for drinks, and a great way to see a movie with a group of friends, or to see a chick flick with your significant other :)
Don't waste your time or money. I owe it to the general public to warn you of the worst movie venue in Seattle. Reason #1: Foolish seating arrangements. Reason #2: Incompetent management. Reason #3: Overpriced. Solution #1: Cinerama.
Oversold show. I recently bought tickets a week in advance to a show at the belltown location of Big Pictures. Although I arrived 20 minutes before the show, all of the seats in the seater were already taken. When I went to talk to the manager, he was completely unhelpful and inappropriate. Instead of figuring out how to address the issue that there were more people with tickets than seats available, he would not even acknowledge that the show was oversold. Instead he told us that he would bring additional folding chairs in as there were no theater seats available. He also said the show would not start until my party and I were seated. As it turned out, the movie started and my friends and I were left standing, waiting for our folding seats. At the end of the movie the general manager, was no where to be found. He made no effort to make our experience more comfortable. Besides the fact that us seating on the stairs of the theater while watching a movie was probably a fire hazard, I was completely disappointed with the level of service and care provided by the general manager.
Arrogant Owner. I have always been a big fan of the Big Picture Show until recently. My non-profit organization thought it would be a great place to host an event and I was the one who volunteered to research the possibility . After four different quotes (each one higher than the one before) coupled with an arrogant staff and owner I passed on having our event there. After two weeks of calls and e-mails I never could get the exact cost of the event. When I finally gave up trying to work with the event coordinator I thought I'd get in touch with the owner (Mark Stearn) thinking he might be able to lend some understanding and a bit of sympathetic to my plight. His reply to my letter was anything but sympathetic. There was an arrogance about him that I hope I'll never have to endure again and wanted to save anyone else from the same headache.

great idea, poor delivery.
great idea, poor delivery
staff was overwhelmed by arriving moviegoers ordering drinks
staff quickly became cranky
movie goers: cool
staff: attitude
was told to arrive at 8 for an 8:30 film, at 8:45 questioned when it would start, informed it had a 9:00 show time.... so you might want to double, even triple check your show time, they don?t seem to communicate to well
of course, you did have time to order more drinks
my first (and last) time to BP, apparently you can run a tab and place an order that will be delivered to you during the film
it was no big deal that ours was never delivered, film was entertaining enough?
however, after movie went to pay tab, had been charged for the never delivered beverages
real kicker is? when inquiring about a correction, I get a HUGE attitude, (What! you don?t pay for something you didn?t get! Can't you see this is an inconvenience to ME right now!)
hey it was their mistake, which I was being totally cool about,
it was so absurd it was funny......
The most important thing you need to know is Sound.
horrendous
the reverb was barely tolerable (similar to the current created when your mobile rings near your ipod, only constant, which during scenes that lack soundtrack or scenes containing dialog,
could drive you nuts)
if sound is important to you, this isn?t your gig
seats were very comfortable
Fun date night. This is a fun alternative to the drab mall - style theatres, and great for a date. Walk into the foyer and grab a drink, order popcorn to be delivered to your seat! I have seen some great Indy films here before they arrive at the mainstream theatres.
