Editorial Review for Grand Illusion Cinema – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
This U-District theater started its life in 1970, and was said to have sparked Seattle's infatuation with indie flicks. But by the mid-'90s, film-goers could find the same arty movies in much fancier theaters. The Grand Illusion was saved by the Northwest Film Forum, an energetic group of Capitol Hill-based filmmakers who wanted to show their favorite experimental and archival films. It's now one of the best spots in town for revival films.

i'm a fan of vintage and cozy; this theater encompasses all that... it's great! and the ambience is very laid back, where everyone is just there to enjoy a strange movie... the staff are very friendly too!
