Editorial Review for Vincenti Ristorante – by Lesley Jacobs
The Scene
While less formal than the owner's original Rex Ristorante, the mood is still decidedly chic and elegant. Guests are greeted warmly at the door as if they were old friends and shown to their tables in one of two dimly lit rooms. The windowed kitchen allows for chef gazing, but the waiter's commentary can be eclipsed by crowd volume.
The Food
Adriatic chef Nicola Mastronardi attends to every detail on this classic Italian menu. Pastas are prepared al dente. The bucatini is made with a smoky, homemade, bacon-like guanciale and tomato sauce, while the hearty lasagnette with white sauce is a savory package of creamy, meaty flavors. Main courses delight as well: Exactingly cooked tagliata topped by arugula and Parmesan satisfies wholly, and the Dover sole is flaky and aromatic. Dessert options include tart lemon panna cotta, and the mille foglie, a deconstructed napoleon with hazelnut and caramel filling.

Insider Tips
Where to SitThe back room is quieter than the main room. For singles and casual couples, there are several seats in front of the rotisserie, while a long counter by the bar is available for informal ordering.
Save MoneyTry the six-course tasting menu for $70.
When to GoMonday is pizza night, with authentic thin-crust pies--the flour for the dough is flown in directly from Italy.

Not only is the food amazing at Vincenti but so is John. Vincenti was just named number 7 in the "75 Best Restaurants in Los Angeles" issue of Los Angeles Magazine and Number 1 in the article “The 20 Best Italian Restaurants in Los Angeles” written by Jonathan Gold for LA Weekly. There is no place like it outside of Italy. I have to completely disagree with the reviewer about John. I mentioned to a friend recently that John was working at Vincenti and his comment was “having John run your dining room would be like having Picasso paint your living room“. We all love John, Maureen and the staff at Vincenti.
Pros: Pizza on Monday's
