Editorial Review for Alki Beach – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
There are more than two miles of beach access and spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains and islands in Puget Sound. Skaters, runners and cyclists roam the wide path that runs the length of the park, while picnickers dine near a replica of the Statue of Liberty, which also features volleyball facilities. Legend has it that pronunciation of the park's name, originally "al-key" (Chinook for "by and by") changed to "alk-eye" during Prohibition.

Alki is a great Seattle beach. To me, alki has one of the best views of seattle. The view is even better at night when you are sitting at a bonfire and looking at the city and the stars. Also, it's a great place to watch the fireworks on the 4th..but it gets pretty crowded because everyone likes going here to watch the fireworks.
Pros: Great beach, good place to watch the city and fireworks

Check out Seattles on Statue of Liberty! Gorgeous beach, with breathtaking views of Seattle skyline, mountains, and Bainbridge Island. Sandy beaches are ideal for castle building, walking, or volleyball. Bonfires at night. Sidwalk all along to walk/bike/rollerblade. In summer, crowds are expected, and parking not so ample. Reseraunts in the area are so-so, or so has been my experience. Facilities are undergoing renovation this year (2004) so only bathrooms are porta potties.
Pros: Sandy Beach, Views, Large Beach
Cons: , Parking
