In Short – Board the ferry at Colman Dock near Pioneer Square, then make a choice: head up to the top deck for a seat in the sun or snag an indoor booth next to the window for a calmer ride. The best views are from the stern of the boat, watching the downtown skyline shrink (or appear, depending on the ferry's destination). There's a small coffeeshop onboard for en-route snacks and drinks.
best attraction!

Riding a ferry is one of my favorite "tourist" things to do in Seattle. This ferry is one of the best. The length of the trip is perfect. The views are great. Walk on, enjoy the trip. Poke around the island town, get back on and be back in the city - a great diversion!
Skip the Spaceneedle... Ride the Ferry

I was stuck on a plane flight from Dallas to Seattle and the gal asked me what she should see on her three day trip to Seattle. "Ride the Ferry," was the first thing out of my mouth. If you have a friend in town and want them to truly experience why Seattle is one of the best and most beautiful places on earth, take them on a ferry ride... it's romantic, it's CHEAP... and you'll get the best views of the city and Puget Sound. Or, for a cheap date, go to dinner and then take a late night boatride on a starlit evening... guaranteed you'll win your date over if they have one ounce of romanticism in them!

This was a great experience! I had never been on a ferry before. Oh, if you go over to the Island, you have got to go the the Bainbridge windery! What a cute little place! =] It is located about 1/2 mile north of the main road on the right hand side!
