In Short
Executives scurry past on errands as you find your way up to the 73rd floor observation deck using two high-speed elevators. The undeniably spectacular view is worth the journey--on a clear day, you can see all the way to Tacoma. Most visitors gaze at natural landmarks such as Mt. Rainier or the Puget Sound. Unfortunately, unlike the Space Needle, it's not a 360-degree view; some of the north is blocked by the building.
The Details on Columbia Tower Observation Deck
When to Go:
Plan your ascent for a weekday, the deck is closed on weekends. For a weekend view, try nearby Smith Tower.
Know Before You Go:
Enter the building from 5th Ave. Take one of the elevators on the left to the 40th floor, exit, turn the corner and enter an elevator to the final destination (73rd floor).
Where to Sit:
The observation area is decked out in comfy leather chairs--thanks to the office setting--from which you can kick back and enjoy a view of the surrounding mountain ranges.
The Extras:
Ladies, the restroom has been written up in national publications for good reason. Make sure you pay it a visit before you go.
