The Experience – Ravenna park was once the most popular private park in Northwest history, called the place where people could visit "the trees that swept the stars." The huge 300- to 400- foot high trees are no longer there, but the park still remains as a bit of nature in an urban landscape--with plenty of evergreens to boot. Criss-crossing hiking trails provide a workout while benches interspersed throughout are the perfect place to rest and reflect. Those who prefer a flat path will enjoy the wide trail that spans the park. – – The Features – Real estate agent…
The Details on Ravenna Park
Know Before You Go:
After a visit from Teddy Roosevelt, visitors named the tallest tree after the president, and even renamed the space Roosevelt Park after his death in 1919.
The Extras:
Athletic visitors to the park can choose from two tennis courts, a softball field and a soccer field. Mountain bikers and hikers can attack the 3/4-mile Ravenna Valley Trail that leads to the ravine.
Where to Sit:
Glacial runoff carved Ravenna's impressive gorge, the upper end of which opens into Cowen Park. If you'd like a bird's-eye view of the ravine, the 20th Street Bridge provides the perfect vantage point.
