Amazing food, beautiful scenery, top notch staff!.
We have been to the Calcutta Grill for brunch before, but never for dinner. It was my birthday and we wanted to go somewhere with a beautiful ambience and some scenery this time! (We have 3 kids
and usually are at very loud kid-filled establishments!)
We had an amazing time! Our server was top notch: polite, knowledgeable, quick... no long wait periods, etc... Even the guy serving the water and refilling was extremely polite and professional!
We shared a bowl of their WONDERFUL Smoked Salmon Corn Chowder... Best soup I've had in YEARS! We both loved it! We ordered the 16oz prime rib and a Cobb Salad. Both were delicious! My husband said it was the best prime rib he's had in a long time... and that's saying a lot... as usually we frequent Jak's in Issaquah.. known for their Prime Rib! I loved the Cobb Salad! It was so much more than what was described in an older review below... It was filled with bacon, tomatoes, crumbled cheese, and more! The chicken in the salad was delicious too! IT was a huge portion and I could only finish half! (I wanted to save room for the apple cobbler!) We shared the warm carmel apple cobbler... and again.... wonderful!!!
We had such a great time and felt like we were given world class service and food! We will definitely be back soon! IT's nice to find a place that has the best service and food in such a stunning location! They won't disappoint! Enjoy!! We certainly did! ;o) Thanks Calcutta Grill!…
Hyped to try this place for Real.. Well, the first time I came to the Newcastle Golf Club was for my senior year prom a year ago. Everyone was dressed formal. All Gents and Ladies. I didn't exactly had what the menu had offered. It was just a buffets style dinner. Which was delicious. I am about to go there for an actual dinner. Do you know if the Calcutta Grill is on the right side or the left side when looking from the parking lot? And is the pub menu available during dinner? I'm excited to see the sunset! Are we allowed to stay out after the place closes at 10pm? Like outside on the deck looking at the night view of the cities? on a Sunday perhaps? Thanks.…
Could be sooooo much better!!. I live in the Golf Course and go to the Calcutta Grill alot but twice I've had very bad experiences with the food. Once a velcro clip was found in my salad and the second time, items were put in my salad which I definately cannot eat. They also forgot chicken in the Cobb salad so it was mostly just lettuce and tomatoes for $16. The manager was so apologetic and understands my concerns since I really want this restaurant to succeed since it's so close to me and it's one of the best views nearby! The menu is so limited for the clientele that wants to come there (families, friends.....not just golfers!) I hope they eventually get their act together....I'm hoping they do soon!…
Beautiful Ambiance, Good Food.
I have enjoyed many evenings at the Calcutta Grill and it is my favorite place to enjoy a bottle of wine with friends while enjoying the gorgeous surrounding view and the great touches like the
bagpiper. My favorite place to sit is the south patio of the restaurant - more relaxing / comfprtable than the main patio for dining. I also LOVE the Wooly Toad. I appreciate the menu being more simple than in years past - just good food - the seasonal ravioli is always a treat and the prime rib is fabulous with the peppercorn crust and real horseradish (upon request for the latter.)
The Caesar comes with anchovies, so be prepared to ask for it without them if you don't like them. The burgers are awesome as well.…
What a fall from grace! What a waste of world class scenery!. What happened?! This used to be 1 of my favorite places; it is VERY heartbreaking to see how much this place has declined. The once attentive, knowledgeable staff has been replaced by warm bodies. My friends & I decided to enjoy dinner & a view at Calcutta Grill. The oblivious hostess sat our party @ a table w/a nice centerpiece of sticky mystery sauce & was trying to hand us our menus WHILE we were trying to dust off a layer of crumbs off of our seats. & what a shock! They now have a pub style menu! So now I get fish & chips w/a world class view? Where did all the romance go?! We did not see our waitress for 10-15 mins. When she finally came, we asked her about some wine & she irritatedly pointed to the most expensive wines but couldn't really give any reasons why. Maybe because she had no idea? We ordered cocktails instead, which took so long that my margarita had a layer of water on top of it; not ice. We would have asked for more lettuce to break up our good but COMPLETELY overdressed caesars, but our waitress did not even check up on us until she was dropping off our entrees. ALL 3 of our orders of scallops were overcooked to inedibility. The (med. well; not med.rare) beef tenderloin had a nice wine sauce, but the veggies tasted like they spent 1 year too long in a freezer. Again, our waitress did not come until we gave up on our meals. & the restrooms! The restrooms @ Newcastle are beautifully appointed w/marble, have completely enclosed stalls, & have all the toiletries you need. Well, this time, the garbages were overflowing onto the countertop & floor, w/TAMPON wrappers, & 2 stalls had no toilet paper. & get this! Talking on her PHONE in there the WHOLE time was the housekeeper! Where did their El Gaucho like standards go?! When we were leaving, the general manager was @ the front desk & asked us how our night went. We all looked at each other & laughed & shrugged & all he said was, ?Okay, well, have a good night!? With service like that, why come back?…
