In Short
Dick Spady's orange-hued drive-in is Seattle's answer to the Golden Arches. The later it gets, the younger the crowd as teenagers and college partiers stop in for late-night fuel. The Dick's Deluxe comes topped with American cheese and a squirt of pickle-specked mayo. Hand-cut fries (pay a few cents extra for ketchup or tartar sauce) and Vitarich milkshakes are meant to be eaten in the front seat of the car, radio blaring.

I've had several friends who are native Seattle-ites recommend Dick's Drive Inn to me. I kept going on about my White Castle cravings and they took me to Dick's for lunch. The service was pretty quick and would say that they were friendlier than your average McEmployee from the Midwest, but the burger wasn't good. I'd say that it's pretty close to a McDonald's Cheeseburger, but tasted kind of sour (still can't really explain why though). I thought the fries were probably the 2nd worst I'd ever had (the ones we got in high school were the worst). Sorry Seattle, I had a hard enough time getting over the name of the place, and the food definitely isn't good enough to get over the awkwardness of telling someone you've had Dick's if they're not familiar with the chain.

I love this place for its awesome location. Whenever I go in, I usually get their burgers, as their fries are not that great. They do have good desserts. The thing that I don't like about this place is because it's open till 2 a.m. everyday, they seem to allow these homeless people to panhandle, sometimes aggressively, in front of their establishment at will and allow them to "live" inside the restaurants. The sight of all the homeless sleeping in the seats and their body odor can be a little intimidating and a turn-off.
