UPDATE YOUR DECOR! Ambiance needs help!. Went to Morton's for the first time for Holiday dinner. The ambiance is old and dated. I know steak houses traditionally have dark wood, soft lighting, etc. This place looked straight out of the 70's! Morton's should go check out Daniel's Broiler on Lake Union or Ruth's Chris at the Hyatt on Pine to see their competition. The service was nice, the food was really good... next time if I'm paying that much for dinner, I'll go back to the other two mentioned above. It wasn't horrible but I was expecting much more. Live and learn.
Very disappointed. I went to Morton's with a party of six, it was the first time I had ever been (and the last). Overall it was a very negative experience and several of us were unhappy with our meals. I ordered a double cut filet mignon, medium rare. When it arrived my steak was visibly sub-standard, I should have returned it right then. It was visibly smaller than the other two filet mignons ordered by our party and ? of it was already separated due to a ribbon of fat. I cut into it and took several bites before I realized it was much too rare, the center was like jelly. I sent it back. I ate a bit more after it returned but the meat was chewy and tasted mediocre. One of our party ordered their celebrated 4lb. lobster. It was overcooked and dry. Very disappointing for a $100 lobster. Overall the service was fine, but the meal was lousy and the prices seemed higher than some of the better steakhouses in Seattle. The experience was bad enough to prompt me to write this review.
excellent steak, unique & romantic ambience. i have been to morton's in seattle once with my wife and another friend. immediately when you go in the door, you walk down stairs, which threw me off. i have also been to el gaucho and the metropolitan grill. at morton's, i had filet mignon, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. the helpings were huge and delicious. side dishes are usually only big enough for one person. the sides at morton's were plenty for the three of us to share, the waiter even recommended that we not get one of the sides we were going to because he knew that it would be too much food for three people. prior to ordering our steaks, they had a platter with their different cuts on display for us to see. the steak definitely had a good aged taste and unique seasoning to it. they had a huge liquor selection, including some more uncommon items-such as a 32 year oban scotch and stolichnaya elit vodka. it was a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. i highly recommend morton's for a special occasion or a romantic evening.
good steak.
they are definiltey sales people. they want you to buy all the a la carte. too bad you get full just by eating their petit fillet mignonne. their service is good. but the fact that you feel guilty for not ordering is NO GOOOD. but the fact that their service is extroadinare and their food is bomb, you'll keep going.
and let me remind you. for 5 people the bill came out to 300 dollars. and thats just from ordering 5 dishes plus 2 a la cartes?
Place for Special Night. Decided this was the steak place for Prince Charmings Birthday. What a terrific place. Mary was our waitress and she was friendly without being fake or too much. The visual menu was fun to talk with her about and her description of the chocolate dessert had me wanting dessert first. Since they knew we were there for a celebration, Mary was attentive but also gave us privacy. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the asparagus was tender and a bit crisp (the way we like it) and the holandaise sauce was so creamy and added that extra touch. We bought the cookbook to see if we can make the sauce and the chocolate dessert at home. We were there on a Monday night, so there was no crowd and the place was very quiet, but I can see on busy nights it might be pretty loud with the seating so close together. I recommended this place to anyone who is a steak lover and for those evenings you want to remember for a long time. Week nights are quiet. Thanks again Mary, you made the evening very special for someone that is very special to me.
not a steak fan.... ...but I still enjoyed my time at Morton's. We ordered a steak and seafood combo (a promotion that was being run a couple months back), and were very happy with our choices. The prawns were enormous, and each one felt like a meal within itself, while the side dishes were equally satisfying. I know that Morton's offers pre-theatre dinners that offer a variety of dishes. I think that I will take them up on that within the next few weeks!
Morton's Seattle not a good reflection on the chain..... We've have dined at many Morton's across the country. It's always been a special experience. Last night we dined at the Seattle restaurant and it was very disappointing. I realize they have to cater to the Seattle shopping crowd, but people showing up in sweats and tennis shoes completely detracts from the fine dining experience. Then there was the server who when I told him my martini had a strange flavor and to please replace it he stared at me blankly, did not utter one word, and took it away and replaced it with a martini that was not the same as I had originally ordered. He handled the matter really, really badly. The restaurant was super busy and it felt like I was at Stuart Anderson's. The food was ok, steak was good enough, but it will never hold a candle to Daniel's or Canlis or even Ruth's Chris. It used to, but not anymore, sadly.
Incredible service, atmosphere, food, ambiance. My partner and I went there for a celebration dinner. I had never been and boy was I impressed! The restaurant was so lovely, the ambiance was soft and inviting, very welcoming. They valet our car, walked us to our table, had an amazing presentation of dinner, appetizers were to die for the wait staff was very knowledgable and friendly, and of course it made for a wonderful dinner with my companion and a nite that was very special. I had the filet oskar and it was the best i have had in years. We will def. go there again and I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone new to the area or those who may have forgotten about it. You can even make reservations online, its so easy and worry free. It was perfect!
Grrrrrreat Steaks!!!!!! Great Time.. Incredible steaks, wine selection, service and atmosphere, did I say great steaks, say no more.
Prime Steak Location. The best crab cakes I've ever eaten! The food was superb! Staff exceptional and attentive. Even the General Manager makes sure you leave satisfied. You can't beat the complimentary filet mignot sandwiches during Happy Hour!
