A controversial working man hammers out a giant job with steely determination..
In Short
He's tall, skinny and solid steel--it's hard to ignore international artist Jonathan Borofsky's powerful mechanical sculpture, since he stands 48 feet tall, seven inches wide and weighs in at 13 tons. Garbed in black automotive paint, his hammer strikes four times a minute, from 7am to 10pm, except on his annual day-off--Labor Day, of course. His spot outside the Seattle Art Museum ensures that he gets all the attention that he deserves.
