The Scene – Trendy Belltown feels worlds away inside this homey, rustic and spacious terra-cotta-tiled dining room with a soothing fountain in the middle. Tables are spaced out nicely, and the room is comfortably dim. Servers are friendly, but not necessarily efficient. – – The Food – If the fresh-fried chips with tongue-tickling tomatillo and traditional tomato salsas aren't enough, dive into the indulgent queso fundido--three cheese-filled dishes topped with chorizo, poblano chilies and grilled cactus. The thick, pasty chicken mole is best skipped in favor of…
Yes, thank you, the bouncers SUCK!

I have to say, I obviously don't feel happy, but definitely vindicated, in seeing that the past few reviews have mainly focused on the disgusting individuals they have working the door/security at this place.
I've gone to Tia Lou's on and off for many years; as usual, there seems to be no mid-point in Seattle between too-cool-for-school-hipster and out-and-out-trashfest. it would be nice if they place didn't leave me feeling the need for a 5-hour long shower, but whatever, it is A place in Seattle to dress up, dance it up, and have fun.
Being employed as the person who stands at the door there to take customers' measly $5, however, is NOT what's up. I hate bouncers and doormen who try to pull rank and get on a power trip with you, but at least if a bouncer pulled that trip at an actually DECENT and high-end club, it would make sense. I don't know who the h### these guys think they are or where they think they're working, but you work at Tia Lou's buddy, you don't get to treat people at the door like you're god's gift to the world.
I attempted to go to Tia Lou's on Halloween, with another girlfriend and her guy friend. He would have let us girls in, but told us that our friend was not "dressed in a costume". This, despite the fact that some meathead jock had just walked through the door wearing jeans and a white T-shirt! When I called the doorman on that s@#$, he said "That guy went in with a cowgirl. He's dressed as a cowboy." Cowboy my a@#. No matter how I tried to talk him into letting things slide, he came up with one BS excuse after another as to why our friend couldn't get in.
I have worked at bars and clubs. I know that there was no "rule", there is never a "rule", and that bouncer could have totally let us in, but felt like bullying our guy-friend. And the next time I pass Tia Lou's and see him, I'll bully his 350 pound a@@ right back to Tricities or whatever hicktown he crawled in from.
- Pros: A place to dance despite trashy atmosphere
- Cons: Standing at a door is not a job to act like a d@#$ over

GO here if your looking to have a HORRIBLE time and get a black eye! The music is some what decent- The bouncers......that's a whole other story! The bouncers gets kicks from beating up of inoccent poeple(in this case, girls), yes, thats right, BEATING girls up! BOUNCERS! The guys who are suppose to stop fights are starting them at this place! We were there a few days ago and that was our last time there, after getting pulled by my hair and my friends getting shoved around you come to realize this place hire's idiots! If you here for a review, change your plans now, get as far as possible from this horrible hole in the wall! The owner of this place should be ashamed to run it with those stupid bouncers- who cant get real jobs so they get hired at this place to push people around, talk about power trips! (doesn't even deserve 1 star)

I've been to bad places but Tia Lou tops them all. The music is horrible. The bouncers ( power trips) earning peanuts have guts to kick people out for no good reasons. The place hardly deserve one star. I was there 2 weeks ago and damn first and last time. If you here for a review, change your plans know. To add to that the club aint all that. Am business minded...and men i feel sorry for the owner while the stupid bouncers/watchmen drive the club to the grave. And WHATS UP WITH BLINDING CUSTOMERS FACES WITH NEON FLASH LIGHTS...ohhhh I forgot its the f***** watchmen. get real jobs losers

I made special arrangements for a good friends birthday party and it was a special night out. Tia Lou's is an awesome place for dancing!!! Not so crowded and many platforms to dance on. No cover charge before 10pm. They have okay music mixed to be dancable to. Also fog machines and fans to cool you down. And Bubbles blowing from the ceiling. An entire outside smoking area with a bar!! I will for sure be back for some dancing!!!
- Pros: Not so crowded and an outside smoking area with a bar
- Cons: drunk people wanting to dance with you
good food, good fun, friendly staff

Each time I have visited Seattle, I make a point to stop into Tia Lou's for great food, and a welcome back attitude. The bartenders are pleasant, efficient, and generous. The staff here work long hard days and put up with a bunch of cr*p from none other than the nay-sayers who make a point to bad mouth them on this website. So sorry, cry-babies, that your drunken over-the-top evening was ruined by the bouncers whose job is to promote safety and keep things under control. So GET OFF THE STAIRS, move out of the way when asked the first time! Use a little common sense and understand that people are doing their jobs not out to make you miserable. ITS NOT ABOUT YOU...it's about the well-being of not only the patrons but the safety and accountability of the staff. The only problems I have ever encountered in Tia Lou's are the rude, young, drunks who welcome themselves into your personal space and into your evening. Hint, gentlemen, if a woman doesn't look your way and smile, you're not welcome. Believe it or not, people still go out these days to spend time with friends, not hook up with the first hard body, self-involved idiot who thinks he has a chance. Go to Tia Lou's with friends and if the crowd seems strange and obnoxious as it can at times, stick together, ignore the drunks and follow staff directions, it will be a better night for all. Most of all, respect the staff and they will respect you...here or anywhere. Remember, they are providing you with a SERVICE, NOT there TO SERVE you! Overall...take the time for dinner and drinks at Tia Lou's. Enjoy the deck in warm weather and enjoy good service and good food all year 'round...cheers!
- Pros: great staff, friendly staff, good food
- Cons: crowd can be a bit young and over the top
