Editorial Review for Liquid Lounge at EMP – by Silja J.A. Talvi
The Scene
Although locals have been slow to warm up to the Liquid Lounge--at least partly because of the perception of the EMP as an overpriced tourist trap--this second-floor bar is finally drawing bigger crowds who appreciate its intimate layout and smoke-free environment. With no cover charge, the Lounge still manages to bring in an eclectic array of local, national and international talent.
The Draw
Innovative design is the key appeal of the Liquid Lounge, which stands out because of its gleaming, non-symmetrical countertop and surprisingly comfortable space-age steel bar stools. Weekday nights are arranged thematically by music genres, and there's usually plenty of space for everyone to socialize. But on the weekends, a casual-meets-upscale crowd scarcely fits onto the tiny dance floor and clogs the already narrow walkway.

Not really an impressive place. It is in a convenient location if you are checking out the Sonics or a concert in the Key Arena, but there's other places just as close. The drinks are not impressive or strong and it can take too long to get another at times, especially before/after an event.
Pros: Close proximity to Key Arena, EMP
Cons: Nothing to draw you in, drinks aren't great, parking is not fun,

I came here before a Sonics game to grab a drink and quick bite since it was so close. The waitress was friendly, but too busy. They appeared to be understaffed. The drinks were just mediocre... even she admitted to us the menu was so-so and suggested we avoid their shot/martini menu. They also were rushing people out the door because they were closing early.
Pros: close to Key Arena, happy hour food menu
Cons: drinks, seating, overpriced martini
