Editorial Review for Alpine Hut – by Laura Slavik

The Scene
Novices and experts alike benefit from personalized attention here. Get answers to all of your questions and try on as many boots as you like. For what the store lacks in glitz, it certainly makes up in service.

The Goods
Looking for fatties? The Alpine Hut has them, along with shaped, regular and children's skis from major manufacturers (Atomic, Dynastar, Head, K2, Volant and Volkl), plus enough clothing to ensure style on the slopes. Costs are not immediately clear because owner Ron Fisher doesn't believe in price tags. You'll have to spend time talking to the salespeople to find out prices--and that's just what they want. They've got the experience and knowledge to help you pick out the best package. Though not openly displayed, the prices are fair and often will even beat sale prices advertised elsewhere. Plus, last year's closeouts sell at a 30 percent discount.

User Reviews for Alpine Hut

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I wish I had known about Alpine Hut years ago. It's my own fault, but maybe this review will help other people find this store. I could tell right off the bat that this was a family owned store and it makes SUCH a difference if you care about quality and safety. Everyone I worked with was professional, knowledgeable and honest. Repair information about my skis was explained carefuly and time was taken to understand my needs. Finally, they are the only shop I've seen that uses a modern rating system for bindings, which is more accurate and safe. I could go on-and-on, if you're tired of big name and bad service, try this great store with excellent service.

Pros: Excellent service, Knowledgeable pros, No pressure sales

Cons: Smaller store
