Perennial garage sale for slope lovers who want quality, not slick ambience.. The Scene
Practical, not pretentious; it's bargain-basement shopping in a store that looks like a basement. Sturtevant's unloads its demo and closeout skis here at 40 to 70 percent less than original retail cost. New items also are available, including gloves, coats and helmets. Plan to dig for them behind the racks of used and consignment boots, poles and snowboards.

The Goods
Remember the Rossignol Salto skis that seemed as though they'd steer themselves through the mogul fields? Look for them here at half their original price. Everything is inexpensive (even the new parkas and snowsuits), but the rates on whole-season rentals are the best deal.
