Editorial Review for The W Bar – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
This downtown hot spot is ground zero for the beautiful and sexy, who eat well and feel fabulous. Settle into one of the enormous, semicircular velvet booths for primo people-watching. The munchies are as chic as the patrons: fries with truffle oil, Big Eye Tuna tartare and mini-grinders with house-cured meats. Try a specialty cocktail from the long menu--the flavorful Hey Ginger! has ginger puree floating amongst gin, triple sec and lime juice.

I've been to the W Bar 3 or 4 times for Happy Hour, and it's generally very good. My girlfriend always gets the Emerald Drop, which is a Happy Hourt special, and she swears by the thing - I prefer to stay with the Happy Hour beer menu, which is good as well. The Happy Hourt fries are fantastic. They are served in a large funnel and are perfectly crispy. My only qualm with the W Bar is its price, which can get expensive just from a few drinks.

Pros: Emerald Drop, Happy Hour fries

Cons: Expensive, can get crowded/slow

This has become a good place to meet up with friends downtown, especially if you work downtown. The vibe is good for maintaining conversation and the drinks are good enough to keep you there. I try to go early to avoid getting stuck in the congestion that occurs when it starts to fill.

Pros: location and decor

Cons: can fill up quick
