Editorial Review for Father's Office – by Mar Yvette
In Short
First things first. This isn't the kind of bar where you can just waltz in at any hour of the night and expect fast service and no crowd. No, this is L.A. County's landmark gastropub (tiny as it is) where foodies, beer connoisseurs (and sometimes smug scenesters) from near and far wait in ridiculously long lines in hopes of getting a spot at one of the tables crammed inside. The plain hardwood walls and tile floors make the place as loud as a high school cafeteria, even on the rare occasion when there aren't many people around. The house offers a seasonally rotating selection of 36 "craft" beers on tap. But if wine is more your thing, not to worry--there are a few bottles of small-producer wines and micro-distilled spirits. For food, everyone swears by the blue cheese "Office" burgers and small plates like anchovies, charcuterie and yam fries (just don't ask for ketchup unless you enjoy rude stares from staff). In between brews and vittles, make friends with your very close neighbors by reading questions from the dozens of Trivial Pursuit games floating around.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThere are no substitutions on menu items, absolutely no ketchup provided for fries and no table service--order at the bar.
The ExtrasDon't hesitate to ask for help in choosing a beer from their vast (and somewhat intimidating) selection. They'll find a beer to suit your taste and will even give you a sample to help you decide.

If the employees were as nice as the people I've sat next to at this bar the place would be worth it. But I long for a self-serve, self-checkout like at CVS or Ralph's. If you like to just sit at a bar and be ignored, if you like to die of thirst w/an empty beer glass in front of you and an open tab, if you like to order a $12 burger w/$2.50 fries and get a bill for $27 ... , if you like to beg for silverware for your overpriced food, if you like to beg for a napkin, if you like to reach across the bar and scream and yell for service ... if you like to flag down your food when it comes out of the kitchen, then baby ... this is your heaven. This past weekend was my last attempt of many at getting one night of decent service at this place. But they don't descriminate. You can be dressed nicely or like a bum and you will still be ignored. If you just have to try the place I suggest getting an overpriced beer and an order of $6.50 sweet potato fries and see if you can get that far.
Pros: Sweet Potato Fries
Cons: No ketchup to eat them with

I love me some father's office. Mmmmm. I'm going to go get one right now! I really like dipping sauce. Yummy in my tummy. I wish there were more seats though.
Pros: Tasty bugers that melt in my mouth, large selection of beers, sweet potato french fries
Cons: Seating, or the lack therof; often reeks of the smell of too many preppy jackoffs
