The Scene
From its gargantuan, mosque-style wooden doors and cobalt blue exterior, to its hand-tiled, curving mosaic bar and blown-glass light fixtures, Barca oozes Euro-Mediterranean cool. A custom-built, moss-green sofa with curves to make EMP designer Frank Gehry proud stands out against oxblood-red walls and wrought-iron rail workings. A spacious upper level and fireplace nook offer respite for a pan-city crowd of surprisingly laid-back urbanites.
The Draw
In keeping with its continental presentation, Barca provides nearly 26import beers on tap--but don't worry, local favorites like Alaskan Amber and Mac and Jack's also make the list. Choose from an extensive selection of ports and wines, ranging from $5 a glass to $55 a bottle. A full liquor bar is also available, as is a limited bar menu.

I used to go to Barca a couple times a month but stopped going because it became a bit tired and the crowd seemed to be mostly of the Belltown and Bellevue set out to visit the Hill. I thought I would stop by with a friend last night and see if the crowd had improved and it had. The service however was the WORST I have ever experienced. The bartender was good when he gave us our first round but when we moved to a booth we were given the cold shoulder by the servers and told by the buser that she couldn't send one over. No excuse for that level of service. I didn't leave a tip and they decided to add one anyway. NEVER AGAIN! I also will make sure to share this awful experience with everyone I know. The only reason Barca is getting two stars is the bartender was good.

I really enjoy this place on weekday evenings for chilling out after work or class. The ambiance is fabulous, and it's really fun if you are able to grab a seat in the big couches. It gets a little loud for my taste after about 9:00 on the weekends--there's no dancing, so I'm not sure why they keep the music so loud. I hate having to scream at the person sitting 6 inches away from me. But it's my favorite place for a snack and a cocktail after a busy day! (If you want food, the Barca Tortas are fabulous and come with frozen grapes--yummy and fun).
Pros: great atmosphere, good food
Cons: can be loud on weekend nights
