going downhill. I live in the area, and have been a fan and frequent diner at Evas for 4-5 years now.

Lately there have been issues.

A few weeks ago, I talked a friend of mine into coming with me to Evas for dinner with another friend. She ordered the petit steak rare. We got our food and hers was well done. She sent it back, while the rest of us started on our meals. We were actually done with our meals before hers came back. The second time, her steak was overdone. She called the waitress over and the waittress actually said: Its a small piece of meat so it cooks differently and looks like that...

So today I went with a friend of mine, and she ordered cod. I ordered chicken with hash. When our plates came, her cod was so overcooked she couldnt cut it. She called the waitress over, who offered to get her another piece of fish while we worked on the rest of our plate.

We were both done before her fish finally came out. It took WAAY to long. After she started eating, the waitress came over and asked how her fish was. She said its good but its unfortunate I didnt get to eat with the rest of my meal.

Believe it or not, the waitress actually walked off, without saying a word, when my friend was halfway through her sentence. Wow!

Then when our dessert arrived, t I told our waittress we were going to a movie, and asked for our check. she said shed get it for us. We were done with our dessert and waiting, before the check shows up.

Im thinking its time for me to find a new favorite restaurant. There are an awful lot of good restaurants that serve consistent food, and when something goes wrong, make it right- not walk off or make excuses...

Good food, but not a quiet restaurant. This restaurant was listed as a quiet dining place, and we chose it for that reason, since I don't hear well. The food is delicious, but trust me, this is NOT a quiet restaurant or one that is conducive to easy conversation. Concrete floors, wood and metal surfaces, music, and dim lighting turn the place into a very difficult hearing environment. It wasn't a din the night we were there, simply because there were not many people there and we sat in the back of the bar. Even then, though, it was difficult. But if you are looking for QUIET dining, this is NOT the place. Again...this isn't a criticism of the restaurant's food or service--both of which I praise--but only of the noise level and difficulty for those with difficulty hearing.

Tangletown's finest - Eva. We love this place. The food is interesting, the atmosphere is great, and the people are always friendly and professional. A hole in the wall in a small neighborhood business area, but well worth the time.

good wine. this restaurant is nearby and it never disappoints. sometimes it can be quite busy, but you can get the full menu at the tables in the bar. I love the wine, and the champagne cocktails. Also, you MUST get the desserts.

Great Date Spot. I went to Eva's on a 5th date. We had a great time. The ambience is nice, low lights and grape vines. We arrived on a Wednesday night kinda early, and were glad to see it was not dead nor crowded. The server was nice , not snobby. The Food! It's really good! We had an a starter of pureed vegetable and pita, that was really delicious & full of flavor. For the main dish we had the Fresh tuna noodle dish, and I had the chick pea curry. Both were really good. And of coarse the wine selection is diverse.. A range of prices there. As for overall price we paid $60 with out tip, for one starter ,3 glasses of wine , and two entrees. When I go out my check list is:

#1 atmosphere, then service and then great fresh food. Out of the three the food stands out as the star.

Eva's Restaurant & Wine Bar is top notch for what I look for in a intimate spot. 5 Stars!

Great romantic place. This place is exactly eveything it should be for the perfect neigborhood spot. The food is fantastic and imaginative. I recommend this place all the time, and people always tell me how much they enjoyed it. My more discriminating out of towners for something they might not find at home. Local food served in a classy neighborhood space without pretension.

Very good.. What a lovely place to dine. They've nailed down the ambiance factor, clean and modern yet with a slight country flair. The people were lovely. The wine selection was well rounded. I'm giving it four stars because I longed for something more on the menu. My ribeye was superb and my husbnad raved about his pork loin, but I really wanted something hearty and comforting. It could have been the rainy evening but my three small potatoes and array of steamed veggies didn't allow me to sink in and savor my meat. I didn't entirely get lost in my meal. I was happy, but I longed for more. Maybe I should;'ve tried the hair and chorizo...? Either way, it was a very overall good experience.

30 for $30 is a RIP OFF. For $32 I got 2 small salads, 4 scallops and a slice of cheese cake. Oh ya tap water and some bread...

I saw my main course was 4 scallops on top of salad AFTER I already ate a small salad. $5 worth of food for $32 is just a huge RIP OFF.... I will never go there again...

Dependably good. My husband and I come here when we want a "date night." The prices are completely reasonable (less than $15/entree) and the food is delicious. We especially like the blue cheese flan thing on the appetizer menu, it's so cheesy, tangy and satisfying, and the rabbit dish with chorizo bread pudding, a meaty, slightly spicy entree. Sometimes we both get the rabbit. The wine list is pretty cheap, and they have good champagne cocktails which I like. I also like the decor inside, with winding vines and dark wood, very romantic!
