Editorial Review for Boa Restaurant and Lounge – by Jane Tunks

The Scene
The Grafton Hotel's steakhouse is a post-modern jumble of unpredictable materials. Light fixtures resemble stained-glass bug zappers, while plastic tables are juxtaposed with walls of latticed twigs. Padded walls protect glamorous diners from bruising their willowy physiques, should the combination of martinis and hypnotic, electronica mood music induce a swoon.

The Food
Traditional steakhouse dishes are given witty makeovers. A prawn cocktail is spiced up with a vodka-spiked cocktail sauce; the BLT salad is a whimsical deconstruction of the diner favorite with applewood bacon bits, chopped endive and chunks of tomato. The steaks are prime-aged beef, including rarer cuts, such as a deeply flavorful 35-day, dry-aged New York strip and a tender, bone-in Kansas City filet. With eight sauces and four rubs on the menu--including a sweet, homemade Worcestershire, an earthy cider-sage sauce and a tangy blue cheese crust--you can doctor up your steak any way you like.

Been here once and now that I think about it, I'm not sure I haven't been back. Anywho. The food is GREAT! Went with a group of four and we all had different things; which we all loved. The lobster is fantastic. The steak was good, but I shouldn't really comment since I'm not a fan of steak (why go to a steakhouse then, huh? lol) After dinner we crossed over to the lounge/bar area. It wasn't too crowded, but I forget what day of the week it was. Drinks were good, service was excelent. We had a very friendly waiter, very talkative. I should've been there again already!

Pros: Food. Service. Drinks. Celebreties seem to frequent the place. Ran into Fabulous on my way to thre restroom :) lol.

Cons: It can be a bit pricey, but... you gotta pay up if you want real quality.

My boyfriend made reservations at Boa Steakhouse for my birthday. The restaurant was pretty empty at 3pm on a Saturday, which gave our party of six, a sense of privacy. The decor was nice consisting of brown pillowy walls, twig room dividers and interesting lights. Boa Steakhouse was quite impressive with attentive service, delicious dishes along with notable cocktails including the Oaxacan martini, Mc Strawberry Shortcake and the Boa Infusion. We opted for the Seafood Appetizer Platter consisting of crab legs, half a lobster, oysters and more. The platter was enough for four people. I ordered the 40-day old aged NY strip steak, which was to die for. My brothers ordered Porterhouse steaks, which were huge! Overall, our experience at Boa was great and our waiter even served us cheese fries on the house =) I'm definitely going there again sometime soon.

Pros: Attentive service, steaks to die for and de-lish martinis

Cons: Little nat flying around our table
