In Short – The aroma of grilled meat from the open kitchen tantalizes the waiting crowd that spills onto the sidewalk. Once inside, low lighting illuminates the mahogany furnishings, creating an atmosphere of relaxed sophistication. The menu has a straightforward selection of steaks, pork, chicken and fish--unlike most steak joints in town, the salad, veggies and potato are included in the price of each dinner. Appetizers are nonexistent; the butter-kissed Delmonico or porterhouse are indulgent entrees.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Things move quickly. Salads might arrive before your water glass is filled, so if you're looking for a long, lingering evening, make sure to tell your server.
The Extras:
No reservations are taken. Come early or late or be prepared to wait.

Amazing steaks, good portions

by tammyvasquez at Citysearch

WOW! I checked on the review on this place. And its great. huge portions, small feel, good service. I went for our anniversary it was lovely, we sat in a nice booth. I had the shiskabobs with ribeye and filet. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Topped with this cheese. Wonderful! I would go back and recommend to anyone! My hubby loved his too!

Best steak in Seattle

by bronschar8 at Citysearch

We go out to dinner just about every weekend and we try to go to a different place each time. Jak's Grill might be the best steak we have ever had in Seattle. My husband ordered the 40oz porterhouse and I had the petite filet. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. The appetizers and sides were also AMAZING. The only "con" would be that the bread that they give you is not that great, but who cares...everything else was A+. I had a couple of lemon drop martinis and they were incredible and very reasonably priced! Everything was so delicious we had to order dessert and the desserts did not disappoint. I found the staff to be very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed, not pretentious at all. We will definitely return very soon.

  • Pros: food, drinks, prices
  • Cons: the bread

BEWARE, NEW STAFF RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY

by Ronsfd at Citysearch

In the past month I have had (3) brunches and a lunch and loved it until this past Monday. My 85 yr old mother in law went in at 4:45pm to meet my wife, son and his girlfriend. She was told she couldn't sit down, couldn't get a table, they would not speak to her when she asked a question. My wife came at 5:05 pm and was told they couldn't get a table for (4), had to eat in the bar where there was no space with the exception of a table for four. After conversations, the table was set and they agreed (2) would have happy hour and when the other two arrived pay full price. Well, they waited and when they finally gave their drink order they were told they couldn't be served. Quietly they both rose and said to hostess and server, "with the state of the economy I would think customer service would be first and foremost" and left. They went next door to the Matador, were greeted warmly, seated, drink order take and food order as well. Excellent meal and we've vowed not to go back until the Manager is apprised of the situation.

  • Pros: Excellent brunch and the steaks wonderful
  • Cons: Hostess and some wait staff very rude, must be new.
