A spacious park with picnic areas and a guarded lake in Federal Way.. The Experience
Though the lake is not crystal clear (mineral deposits make it a deep reddish color) the water is still clean and good for a summertime swim. Swimming is not the only thing this park has to offer, however. 135 picnic tables and at least 19 barbecues make this a great place for a family gathering. The park also has a small forested area, complete with hilltop gazebo where kids love to play hide and seek. If you find the gazebo empty, take advantage of the peaceful view.

Features
The park is operated by the King County Parks Department. King County lifeguards are on duty early June until early September from noon to 7pm daily so you can rest assured that swimming is safe. Children under 11 are not allowed on the dock when lifeguards are on duty, though the sandy beach and shallow swimming area should be enough to keep younger kids occupied.
