Editorial Review for Friday Harbor House Dining Room – by Kerry McDonald

The Scene
Tucked inside the Friday Harbor House hotel, this classy dining room beckons with charm and fresh flavor. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer sweeping views of the marina, especially compelling at sunset.

The Food
Gastronomic masterpieces utilize fresh garden organics and seafood straight from the waters surrounding the San Juans. The ever-evolving menu spotlights what's fresh--perhaps oysters, baked with nasturtium-and-chive flower-butter, that melt in the mouth or a warm goat-cheese salad with just-picked lettuces. Alaskan halibut, dressed in salsa verde and dotted with a biting hot sauce, is balanced by fresh asparagus. Broiled beef tenderloin, blanketed in Oregon blue cheese, is lush and full. Sorbets are made daily and offer a refreshing ending to a charmed meal.
