The Scene
Rich walnut floors and wainscoting, ceiling fans and tiny tables dotted with votives lend an air of elegant simplicity to this little bistro located in the historic McGrath Hotel building. But this is North Bend, so kids are welcome and dress is casual--many diners don shorts and hiking boots, having just spent a day on the trails.
The Food
Begin with the prawn scampi, sauteed in white wine, lemon and butter. The Caesar salad is seasoned with just the right amount of garlic and anchovies. Pasta dishes aren't extraordinary, although the penne tossed with a tomato marscapone sauce, prawns and peas is so mild and creamy it could knock mac-and-cheese out of the running for top comfort food. The tender veal scaloppini in delicate mushroom Marsala sauce is exceptional. Savor dessert: the tiramisu is richly flavorful, and the homemade cheesecake is velvet bliss.

Don't get me wrong, the food here is good. I ate there for the second time this week and the manager seated us after giving us the evil-eye for bringing in our 8 month-old daughter. She is a very easy baby so we feel pretty confident dining out with her. About half way thru our meal another family came in with a very fussy little boy. After about 5 minutes of crying, the manager came up to the father who was holding the crying boy in the corner and asked them if they would like to go outside. If it was me I would have taken my child out until he was calmed down, but the fatherpolitely declined and said he would be ok in a minute when his Mother showed up. The manager came back again about 3 minutes later and told the Dad that "he has other customers....." and basically kicked them out. The Dad packed up the family while other customers were telling them it was OK and they didn't mind. Unfortunate situation but the restaurant clearly doesn't want children around.
Pros: Probably best dining in Snoqualmie area
Cons: They don't like kids.

Stopped there with friends on the way back to Seattle from Yakima after a long drive (we were all hungry and tired!). We were two couples with three children. Asked the hostess if it would be ok to bring the children in as the place seemed quiet. She said of-course. After we were seated, my two year old son was fussing and I went out to the car to fetch him some crayons and a toy to distract him. When I returned my husband was standing at the back of the restaurant (where no one was seated, in fact there were only about three tables occupied in the whole place) trying to calm my son down. As I approached him, a gray-haired man whom I assume is the owner/manager told my husband to "take it outside" as other customers were complaining. He was extremely brusque and rude. If he had approached us politely it would have been fine but his tone was simply unacceptable. We promptly left and I told him that we specifically asked if we could bring the children in and he should put up a sign if he doesn't want children in his establishment. A couple at another table were outraged on our behalf and immediately assured us they had not complained and were sorry we had to leave.
Pros: Seemed quiet
Cons: Not child friendly. Rude owner/manager.
