Tacos (cod, catfish and yam) are the tip of the iceberg at the casual Mexican bungalow. Just right posole, chicken mole, orange & almond salad, house made sangria and more attract throngs of fans to this waterfront joint. Perfect spot to satiate your hunger after a row or sail on one of the water toys they rent just below the dining room. Outdoor seating and a Monday - Thursday happy hour 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. seal the deal.

Summer time favorite, but yummy year round. Delicious, reasonable and authentic. Pluses also include: plenty of parking and dining with a view and margarita in hand, what's not to love!

Solid, reasonably priced Mexican food with the added bonus of a fantastic view of the water. Another bonus: head out for a kayak trip before or after your meal.
I am shocked that I haven't gotten
around to writing a review for the Agua Verde Cafe prior to now!
I come here several times a year, especially in the summertime, just for their fish tacos. They have several versions at any given day and all are lip-smacking good - you can't go wrong with fish tacos here.
What are you doing still reading this review? Go get some fish tacos already!
An oasis of good food and margaritas close to UW's South Campus Agua Verde has long been a favorite of students, faculty, staff, & patients
So so. The food was good but it does need more flavor. Not the worst I've ever had. I've been back a few times. Being from CA I wouldn't call this Mexican food though. More like a white persons take on it. Stay away from the salsa. It's bland and does not taste good. I've had better from a grocery store. The drinks are good.
Really fun times!.
I think we may have lucked out and missed the busiest days, because our experience was great all around. The staff was quite friendly, even tolerating some stupid questions that I had.
If you go, be sure to check out the restaurant upstairs. It's delicious!
Moody and rude staff.
Like many other reviewers, I went to Agua Verde on word of mouth. I love kayaking and Mexican food.
Plus my dad was visiting from California last weekend, and Agua Verde was on many to-do's during his visit., so I figured I couldn't go wrong.
Much to my surprise (all the positive reviews) we didn't make it past kayaking. The staff upon check-in was extremely snappy and patronizing, and while we did complete our very own fun kayaking adventure in Seattle, it was at no thanks to the staff at Agua Verde.
While checking in one of the male staff abruptly and aggressively approached me at the counter and asked, "how long were you guys waiting?!?!"...."Just tell me how long you guys were waiting?!?!" ...."You don't know?!?!"
YIKES! I was kind of shocked, and didn't know how to respond. Then the young lady behind the counter rolled her eyes at me for stuttering. It was all down hill from there. The whole time during check in she was as though she couldn't be bothered to be helping us, and any action on my part was up for grabs when it came to eye rolls and sneering glares.
Nevertheless, after a nice paddle on Lake Union, I thought perhaps I'd give Agua Verde a redeeming chance, but that was wishful thinking. The check-out staff was just as snide as the others. The young lady (a different one from when we checked-in) had just as bad of an attitude, with the same eye rolling issue, and again, seemed inconvenienced by our business.
I'll keep to NWOC for my kayaking needs, and my good eats to restaurants with helpful, happy, and friendly staff.
Dog Food for Humans. I will preface what I am about to write with this disclaimer: I only went there once (that was all it took) and that was some time ago. So maybe things have changed for the better since our first / last visit. I shudder to think they have gotten worse. The fact that so many people have rated this place as highly as they have proves either that they have never had really good Mexican food, or that all the reviews were written by the owners and friends and family of the owners. The food we had was just bad. And I will leave it at that. And if the $9.00 mango flavored frozen Marguerita had 1 drop on tequila in it, then I am a banana.
Great Taco's. I love the atmosphere, the food, the view. Great place to grab a bite to eat as long as your not in a hurry.
PADDLE CLUB.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE service....will NEVER visit or send anyone I know to this business. It's a LONG story but I was treated and somewhat harassed for having a Gift Certificate with NO expiration from 2004 that I finally got the owner to honor.
ALL of my future paddling on the Lake will be with NW-OUTDOOR Center. WAY more professional and HAPPY to see you.
Good food, Great deck dining in Summer.. I have been here a few times, always in Summer, and it has always been crowded. Tacos Bacalao (fried fish tacos) are my favorite along with their cactus nachos and Mango Margaritas. Mmmm... Nice having a salsa bar (the mango salsa is my favorite). Try to snag a spot on the deck overlooking the water.
Lunch!. Agua verde is a good spot for lunch, with respectable fish tacos and the other dishes consistently tasty. Honestly though, I only come here because it's close to UW Health Sciences (where I practically live.) It might not be worth a trip out of your way....
