Editorial Review for Queen Sheeba Ethiopian Restaurant – by Kerry McDonald

The Scene
Burning incense, African music and fresh spices dance in the air, playing gently on the senses inside the unassuming dining room. It's comfortably casual, from the hooded-sweater crowd to the service. Dinner is easy on the wallet and makes a great mid-week meal with friends. Make to sure ask for the check, or it might not arrive as desired.

The Food
Served family style, selected dollops arrive on a huge platter atop injera, a thin, spongy, sourdough pancake-like bread. With injera firmly in hand, simply reach and scoop what you can and toss it down the hatch. Most dishes are stew-like: tender lamb, chicken and beef come steeped in rich, smoky sauces, many with a spicy kick. Veggie dishes include lentils, collard greens and okra. The kifto (steak tartar) is soft, tender and tossed in mitmita (hot pepper powder) and the homemade cottage cheese is fresh and flavorful.

This is one of our favorite places to have a fun and engaging meal. The food is fantastic and the wait staff is polite and willing to give out reccomendations. The vegi rolls are an amazing starter and the Sheba's spicy chicken and vegi combo are a great pair. This is a great date place with little nooks with tables to stare into eachother's eyes (altho you dont' always see that) and also cool for a large group of friends with the back area that has little traditional style tables the food is put on.

This place is not as bad. It is on the cheap side (price wise) and therefor one cannot expect impeccable service, but overall we were very happy. You almost get the feeling of these guys/girls just having started and they are stappling a bit, but that is also part of the charm. Rating gets this high because of their low prices and "happy" amateursim (in its best sense).
