The Scene
This spacious store has a split personality--high-beamed ceilings of knotty pine remind shoppers of a mountain lodge, but tropical trappings such as Hawaiian shirts conjure visions of big waves. Sporty teens and families browse from mountain to shore among the gear and clothes made for the great outdoors.
The Goods
For more than 30 years, Quicksilver has outfitted riders with hip, functional gear and clothing such as shorts, T-shirts, pants, jackets, sweatshirts, hats and sunglasses. For women, the Quicksilver Roxy label has a more feminine slant. Then there's the Silver Edition, a classic look for both men and women, rather than the trendy Quicksilver line. You've got the gear, now get the board--choose from a variety of long boards and freestyle decks (short boards) or surfboards. For the truly adventurous, try a mountain board, the latest version of a snowboard with phat wheels, perfect when there's no powder.
