most of the time great food – im not just sayign this because i used to live near them.
they do have good sushi. when i was younger i didnt like sushi at all. but after a while i started to get a acquired taste. (japanese roommates) and really they are one of the best sushi places you can go to in seattle. americanized or japanese it doesnt matter. they are good.
most of their other food is pretty good. too if you arent sushi buffs. they make a good yakisoba is no matter what you want. chicken or beef. their teriyaki is good too. most of what they have on their menu is pretty good. it usually depends on if they are busy or not. sometimes if they are busy some of their dishes will taste good. and if they arent other dishes will taste good.
either way. a great place to try if you love sushi.
The most overlooked Japanese restaurant in West Seattle – Over the past 5 or so years I have eaten here often for lunch. One of my favorites is the chicken udon (soup), it is the most flavorful you'll find among the three Japanese restaurants in the West Seattle Junction. The same is true of the chicken yakisoba; flavors are outstanding. The have recently redecorated with a very pleasant warmth. Very nice people make this a winner in my book.
GREAT SUSHI, GREAT PRICE!! – I stop by this place whenever I get the chance. The prices are great, and so is the sushi. It's ran by a great family who is friendly, open, and easy to get to know. It's in a great location with bars, shops, and cute cafes within walking distance. I love sushi, so when I go to a sushi restaurant I usually only order nigiri or rolls, but this place also has fabulous yakisoba!! It's actually my favorite place to get yakisoba and the prices are incredibly low. Stop by and give it a try if you get the chance, also there's parking in the back, one block east of California ave.
kamei or bust! – walking in here i didn't know what to think. but as i opened the doors and saw 2 lovely ladies waiting to seat me with they pretty smiles i knew it was going to a good time! well that was 8 years ago and i tell you things have only gotten better i truly love this place they give you warm towels in winter cool ones in summer! how cool is that! they seat you quickly you get your order in and your eating in less than 20 mins! doesn't get any better than that! they will keep an eye out for you to make sure everything is taken care of always making sure you have water i have never had an empty glass in this place really people this place is great! the owners are great people who love to talk to their customers and really get to know them their daughters are also great girls who make sure everything is taken care of this is a well run place and im surprised that it isn't alot bigger! the food is just amazing you will be going back forever like i said i have been going here for 8 years and they are the only sushi i eat i have never touched sushi or Japaneses food from another place and neither will you if you try this place. i have been to japan and had food there and this place is authentic as it gets!
Our favorite spot for sushi – The food and service are unbeatable at Kamei. The family who owns and operates Kamei are the nicest people and the food is delicious. We first discovered this West Seattle jewel about 4 years ago and it has been our favorite place for sushi ever since. Having eaten at many japenese restaurants, thats saying alot. Everything that we've tried on the menu has been great, some of the standouts for us are the Red Dragon roll and the Spicy Hamachi roll. Delicious! All of our friends that we have introduced to this restaurant have become hooked also. Give Kamei a try, you won't regret it!
Consistent good food and fair prices! – This is a warm family run restaurant. The owners have always been hands on and with a smile on their face provide good food at very accomodating prices. My favorite is their tonkatsu/ tempura combination. The salad which comes with is adorned with a tasty asian dressing. The miso soup is predictably good and includes tofu and seaweed. I especially enjoy the presentation bento box which includes sides of tonkatsu sauce and tempura sauce. They are also very generous with the sliced cabbage garnish, also accompanied with the delicious dressing. Dessert always comes with every entree and is a wonderfully sliced fresh orange. This is one of West Seattle's best kept secrets and I still don't know how they do it for such an affordable price!
Best Sushi in West Seattle – This place is way better than the other "trendy" sushi places in West Seattle. Its WAY cheaper too.
The BEST Sushi in West Seattle – This place is a find! Family run, always busy, yet you never have to wait very long for a table. The daily specials change and unfailingly they are always excellent. Don't be afraid to try something new and don't be afraid to ask questions. Sit at the bar and watch the sushi chef practice his art. It's a treat.
Love it! – Having moved to Alki from the Eastside...I was on my hunt to find my new local sushi bar to replace I Love Sushi, Rikki Rikki and Sushiman. So...I tried Mashiko first....over priced and very poor service. My 20 yr old daughter even complained and she rarely complains about sushi when it's free! Then I tried Kamei.....I never tried anywhere else since and that was year ago. The service is very attentive at this family run business and the food is wonderful. I always start with the Tako Su that is made in a very generous portion and with this spicy light sauce, filled with cucumbers, seaweed, tobiko eggs, crab & octopus. The fish is extremely fresh and tasty. Everyone is served a pot of hot green tea upon being seated....just another special touch.
Excellent Food and Cheap Prices – My buddies and I go to lunch at Kamei's once a week. There are many good choices. I'm hooked on their daily seafood specials. My friends favor the chicken and beef dishes.
Their prices are more than reasonable and the best deal in town. If I eat at an Eastside restaurant I pay almost doubl for something not nearly as good.
This is a family owned and operated restaurant. They are the nicest people and will always try to accomodate special requests.
