Editorial Review for Paradou – by Dana Bowen
The Scene
When those cheese-and-wine cravings kick in, this pretty Provencal boite is just the answer. Hipsters with a Gallic bent while away the hours in a bright, itsy-bitsy dining room and sprawling garden, chatting around tables of wooden wine crates, and sampling Sancerre, Muscadet and Chinon from small carafes. Service is casual and clubby.
The Food
The menu features snacky French bistro favorites like salad nicoise, as well as roast chicken, duck and other hearty entrees. Start with rich duck rillettes on crispy toasts, or share an oversized endive-Roquefort salad. You can't select which farmstead cheeses will land on your tasting plate, but they're always well-balanced, if a bit small for the price. You can, however, match interior and exterior to create a sandwich of your choice: Favorites like andouille-mushroom-manchego and jambon-Gruyere with pickled onions are better on hot-pressed bread, while others, like creamy artichoke lardon, make excellent savory crepes.

We chose Paradou as the venue for my father's 90th birthday celebration. We were not an easy group to please with varied food needs, ideas of appropriateness, weather requirements and opinions on every possible topic and issue. The staff at Paradou aimed to please from our very first interaction. The food was outstanding both when we came for lunch to sample the menu and on the occasion of the celebration itself. I would highly recommend Paradou, not only for an informal meal, but for a private party. You could not find a more accomodating group to work with in making your special day a success.

Had a so so dinner at Paradou last night. After a little bit of research chose it because of the cuisine, reviews and because they have an outdoor patio. We had a reservation and were seated on time but when we arrived at the outdoor patio it lacked the real feeling of how nice it is to eat outside. The tables are packed so tightly together that people can barely get in or out of the area at all. And the food was ok, good dishes were steak tartare, mussels, cassoulet (la sirene was better though), bad were, scallops...
