Editorial Review for Top Pot Coffee & Doughnuts - Capitol Hill – by Allison Austin
The Scene
Custom bookshelves line walls, and retro skylights punch light into the small space designed and built by the owners of Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square. The room is modern and a throwback all at the same time. Even the clientele is more interesting than the folks you'll find at your average chain--most appear well-read, even if they're not. The baristas are friendly and make a darn fine cup of joe. They're also very helpful when it comes to choosing the best donut that day.
The Food
Capitol Hill residents are going to get fat--these homemade donuts are simply that good. Crullers come in several varieties, including maple-topped and cinnamon-sugar, but the plain glazed are so tasty you just might wake up thinking about them the next day. There are donuts frosted with chocolate and the most endearing shade of bubblegum pink, some with sprinkles, some with coconut.

Best place ever if you're hankerin' for a doughnut (and who isn't?). They seem to have one of every possible variety and the staff is friendly and professional.
Pros: Greasy goodness
Cons: Waistlines

We had done some research before vacationing in Seattle and knew this was one place we could not miss. Our hotel was in the Queen Anne area, so we went to the new location. THE APPLE FRITTER IS HABIT INDUCING. We are now unable to get an apple fritter from anywhere else. It is that good. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. There are also pockets of delicious fresh diced apples throughout. I can only dream that one will be opened in Minneapolis. Not to discount the other donuts, all are fabulous. We pretty much made ourselves sick (fritter, chocolate covered peanut, glazed old fashion, plain old fashion), but we couldn't resist. The four donuts and coffee was about $10. Highly recommended.
Pros: Apple Fritters and Donuts
Cons: Not going
