Teatro Zinzanni: Dinner & Dreams Editorial Review

The Scene
This kooky, in-your-face production has diners decked out in sequins and servers who might juggle or wear a pig nose. Think vaudeville on acid, complete with a kabuki dancer and an accordion, all housed in an opulent tent full of velvet and white linen. The show isn't for the faint of heart--diners are heckled, and might be manhandled by a clown.

The Food
Mesclun greens are danced to the table and the mousse with Grand Marnier-infused sponge cake is wheeled in amidst puffs of confetti. It's a five-course dinner and show--emphasis on the show--but the creamy carrot soup spiked with ginger nearly upstages the chaos. Diners have a choice of two entrees--a wild mushroom potpie with a delicate topping, or tender steak resting on a bed of polenta--and they're both delicious.
