Editorial Review for BluWater Bistro Greenlake – by Citysearch Editors
The Scene
The urban, sexy formula that has its Lake Union sister location boiling over with crowds is toned down a bit here: Those not interested in body glitter and heels will feel right at home. The frat boys tend to congregate in the small bar; the lengthy L-shaped dining room comfortably accommodates those just strolling by and couples on first dates. Service is fluid and friendly.
The Food
Regulars cool off with the bistro's signature blue margaritas and scoop up tender, cilantro-lime-soaked halibut and shrimp seviche with tortilla strips. Baby back ribs are man-sized, meaty and sit beneath a teepee of fried onion shreds. Mahi-mahi tacos are fun--a do-it-yourself dinner kit. Nightly ravioli specials might include a dense lobster filling surrounded by sensational coconut-cream-curry sauce. The impossibly tender baseball steak is cooked to perfection and topped with rich demi-glace.

My boyfriend and I have been to the BluWater Bistro in Greenlake a few times over the past six months. For the lack of a better casual, but nice dinner spot we have taken family members there when they have come to visit from out of town. The location is wonderful but the service and the food terrible. A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I decided to go there for dessert and coffee at around 8:30pm. When we sat down and our server realized we were only going to order coffee and dessert she immediately lost her friendly charm. When she brought out the dessert and poured our coffee the ENTIRE coffee container was filled with coffee grounds. It was so obvious she had to have noticed… we certainly did when we found a good ¼ inch of grounds at the bottom of our coffee mugs. The ice cream that came with the brownie for dessert was completely frostbitten. But worst of all, the server didn’t even come and check on us once or ask how anything was. She must have known she was providing terrible food and terrible service. It is just too bad they can’t treat all customers (whether they are there for dessert or a $200 meal) the same. Although we were only buying dessert that particular evening we have spent over $500.00 there over the past few months--- don’t waste your time at this one if you want good service and good food. There are certainly better restaurants in Seattle!
Pros: Nice Location
Cons: Rude Staff, Terrible Food

Wow, this place has changed. It's been a while since I've been to the Bistro and - while I never thought it was the best restaurant in town - it always supplied a nice atmoshphere and some pretty tasty food. I just got home from having dinner there tonight and was so moved (or unmoved) by the meal that I am writing my first review on Citysearch. The service was ok - definitely friendly. But, the waitress was scarce. The food was really terrible. Bland all around. Just blah. Banal, boring, dull, flat, and flavorless. Seriously, not good. We all tried each others' meals and each one was tasteless. There are SO many restaurants in Seattle that serve better food at a lower price.
