Editorial Review for Cadillac Hotel – by Kelle Schillaci
In Short
With a prime location near hip shopping and eating districts like Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the Cadillac is a real steal. This art-deco showpiece on the world-famous Venice Beach boardwalk (aka Ocean Front Walk) was refurbished a decade ago to be unabashedly noticed--it has a pink-and-turquoise facade and a gondola in the lobby. Once the summer home of silent-film legend Charlie Chaplin, this beachfront property is still occasionally haunted by a celeb or two (if you believe staffers).

Insider Tips
The ExtrasNo trip to Venice is complete without a stroll down Ocean Front Walk. Bike and in-line skate rentals are available on the boardwalk, as are tattoo parlors, advice from a "wino-sex counselor" and other only-in-L.A. eccentricities.
Fun FactIf Cadillac Hotel seems familiar, it's because it's been featured in several movies and television shows.

My friend and I stayed at the Cadillac on Memorial Day weekend as a girl’s getaway. Booking was quick and easy. Tip: While renovations are taking place (rooms are done, lobby is next) the hotel is offering considerable discounts when booking. I attempted to book over an online travel site and found that the hotel was 20% less when I called the hotel directly to book. We arrived before check in (noon) and were very happy about the location and all the nearby attractions. Unfortunately we were disappointed to see that all of the hotel parking was taken - instead we parked in front of the hotel to check in briefly and get information about parking. The gentlemen at the front desk checked us in and told us that parking was limited (to say the least - they have 6 spots) and that I would have to pay a nearby parking lot ($20 - daytime parking only) or find a spot on a nearby residential street (almost impossible). We were in for a parking search! We got a room on the 3rd floor facing south and we had a great view of the ocean. The rooms were nicely decorated with bold colors and clean lines, new bathrooms with nice glass tile, Crabtree & Evelyn shower products, an iHome and a mini fridge. For the price and the location we couldn't have made a better choice. After unloading we drove down to Rose St. and luckily fond a tiny (but free) parking spot. The location is really amazing. We were able to walk to Main Street and enjoy the bars and restaurants (3 blocks away) and were a very short drive (3 minute) drive to Abbott Kinney. We could not have found a better location for the price.
Pros: Location and Price
Cons: Parking is VERY limited, front desk was not very helpful.

My wife and I stayed here last month and changed our check out date three times. We were supposed to go on to San Diego and than Vegas but every time we were due to check out, we couldn't bring ourselves to do it. I have read some other reviews, and don't know how the place was before the rennovation but we couldn't have imagined a nicer place. The lobby still needs some work, but the rooms were beautiful. We did not have an ocean view, but could see the Pacific from our room none the less. Great atmoshphere and very clean. I can't think of any other place this nice sitting on the beach for the same price. We will be back again and again.
Pros: Value value value! Beach breeze!
Cons: Parking is a little crazy.
