Editorial Review for Tosler Davis – by Sandra Ramani
The Scene
Founded by English expat stylist Alan Tosler and expert colorist Sean Davis, Tosler Davis is one of the city's best-kept hair secrets. Regulars like it that way; the low-key vibe is part of the appeal. With the reception desk and color team nestled into one long, skinny, sun-drenched room, and cutting area in a slightly larger nook, the apartment-like feel plays up that sense of privacy; sleek design, Eames chairs and quirky touches like an antique barber tools display, keep it chic.
The Services
The staff has worked an average of 15 years in the biz, so chances are you'll be seen by a pro. Each stylist and colorist has his or her own technique (some colorists use foils; others "paint" strands,) but the result is always modern, easy to maintain and tailored to the client. Free bang trims or conditioning treatments for regulars are available, as are products by Terax, Kusco-Murphy and Aeto.
Editorial content is independent of paid advertisers. Any expenses are paid for by Citysearch.

Know Before You GoAlan Tosler, owner, works on most Mondays, but even if he is not available, a receptionist is always on hand to book appointments.

I've only been twice, but both times it was a great manicure/pedicure at a great price! Slightly claustrophobic space, but pretty and clean and in a convenient location. One of the most meticulous and well-done manicures I've had.
Pros: clean,friendly staff

I went to get my hair done at TD right before Memorial Day weekend... Alan cut my hair which was great, but what I left there beaming about were the highlights that Beth Ann gave me. I have always gotten blonde highlights - all at nice expensive places, first in DC where I used to live and then to a few nice ones up here in the city. Usually when I tell a stylist that I want to go blonder, they make it too golden or too ashy, and never "blonder". Beth Ann did this beautifully, and almost 3 months later, it has held up very well. It was the perfect shade of baby blonde but it looked very natural. No brassiness and no gray or beige. She is so so nice and easy to talk to during the appointment. Also gave me good tips about products.
Pros: BETH ANN!
Cons: none
