Charbern Inn - a terrible place to live!. I live in the Charbern Inn, which is next door to the Charbern Apartments. It's the same management and company (Epic Realtors). When I moved in, I signed a 6 month lease and, with 2 months left, I am counting the days until I can get out of here!

We each have our own rooms, but we share common spaces. The first problem is that the roommates are not screened in any way, so the house is filled with people who hate each other. The kitchen is a disaster area and with 10 people's trash spilling out of bins and 10 people's dirty dishes all over the counters.

Oh yeah, and WE HAVE RODENTS. I have complained multiple times and they "sent someone over" to check it out, but every day, the counter is covered with fresh rodent FECES.

To give you an idea of how the Charbern is managed, we had an unfortunate incident here on January 4th which involved a male roommate physically and verbally assaulting 4 of the female roommates. The police did their job - they arrested the guy and we all have restraining orders against him. Management, however, did NOT evict him. He finally came and moved his things out on January 27th (23 days and 22 sleepless nights later). Even better, they didn't even notify me (one of the assault victims) that he would be coming to get his things, so by letting him in they violated a police order. And the topper is that, while I was sitting in my room with the door locked and lights off, I heard management say that the assaulter had never even turned in his keys - so he could have come back here at any time. They didn't even bother to change the locks! The maintenance guys are both really nice, but they can only do work that Epic Realtors actually assign them.

So, if you want to rent a dirty room in a dirty house with rodents and obnoxious roommates, then by all means, sign a lease here. But if you are not a crazy person and you aren't looking to live in a crazy house, then please take this warning to heart and keep looking.
