I got food poisoning there. We had a large party for a 7:30 dinner last night. The service was with an inept & inexperienced waitress. I did not get the vegetables my dinner was supposed to come with. I ordered the tri-tip dip and it tasted ok. When I got home I started feeling sick. I became extremely sick all night long, and I recognized it as food poisoning. I will never eat there again. From what my family and friends tell me, I'm not the only one that the ClaimJumper has made ill. Please, if you value your health, don't risk it. Go somewhere else.

Just plain horrible. Okay so my experience with Claim Jumper was not a good one. I have been here twice and the first time was in 2008 and the food was pretty okay then but this time when I went now in 2011 was horrible.

My boyfriend and myself decided to go here for my b-day dinner and thought it would be a nice place since it was good last time we went, wrong! When we got there it wasn't really that busy but for some reason I kept smelling fish outside the resturant (not really sure if it was from Claim Jumper or not) and I wasn't impressed with that, it was an oder so strong that I almost felt sick.

Once we got inside there was a couple ahead of us and we were seated right away. I looked around while waiting for our server to come ask us about drinks and there weren't very many people around that I noticed but the tables had quite a few people at them. Our server named Amanda came to ask us about drinks and appetizers, my boyfriend and myself had already decided what we wanted to eat before she even got there. But we just ordered drinks and gave her a couple minutes before we ordered our main course, she left and came back and not kidding the whole time she was talking to us like we were children, now I may be young but she was almost insulting the way she talked to us, just very rude. So we ordered our food and I asked for a lemon for my iced tea because it was very bitter and she said "I'll bring that right out", she never came back until our food was ready and didn't even bring my lemon, I asked her and she forgot it. While we were waiting for our food my boyfriend and myself were deciding on going to a movie and looking things up on his cell phone waiting to kill time, I'm pretty sure it was about an hour before the food got there and not once did our server come back to check on us. Once our food arrived our server handed us our food and she said be careful your plate is very warm, I touched it and it was luke warm, like it was sitting under the heat lamps for a while or something. I then looked at the portion sizes my boyfriend order the chicken fried steak, it was huge and his was priced at about $14.99 I think and mine was the steak and shrimp priced at $24.99. I was not impressed about the portion size for mine at all, I was shocked to see how little I had in comparison to my boyfriends plate.

The server walked away and came back with my lemon after I had asked her again about it and then my boyfriend asked about the size of the steak and if it usually came that big, she replied yeah usually it's that big (suppose to be 7oz) not even close, she asked if it was okay and I said it was fine hoping that it would taste better than everything looked, my sweet potatos were covered in heaping gobs of butter and the veggies were limp and covered in steak grease, once I cut into the steak it was tough and over cooked. My boyfriend told me to send it back and he took a bite of his chicken fried steak, he said it was salty, I tried a bite very very small bite and my whole mouth tasted of gross salt, it was almost like they dumped a bunch of salt on the meat and sauce then just threw it on the plate. My boyfriend was disqusted by his meal as well and our server then came by again and he told her everything was gross and she asked if we wanted to reorder, he said no and she said okay hold on and brought the manager over we explained to him that everything was gross, over cooked and way to salty. he said it's okay and we said we would pay for our drinks and he said no it's okay, he was nice about it and then we walked out. All I can say is that it was a disappointing birthday dinner at Claim Jumper and we went to Famous Dave's BBQ down the street it was fantastic! Much better and very tasty food. I don't recommend anyone going to the Claim Jumper, believe me if you want salty over priced crap and rude servers then go ahead, I won't be wasting my time again.

Gold mining and dining unite at this kitschy all-American eatery.. In Short
Established in 1977, the Claim Jumper draws families, seniors and professionals with a mix of Old-West decor and a reliable menu of American classics. Logs, corrugated tin, rock and warm fireplaces embellish the unique ambience. Signature plates include hickory-smoked pork ribs, rotisserie chicken and barbecued beef tri-tip; the menu also offers tortilla chicken soup, potpies, wood-fired pizzas, and the popular six-layer Chocolate Motherlode Cake. The saloon features appetizers and the restaurant's own brews.

Don't waste your money (or time) on the Claim Jumper. I've been to the Claim Jumper in Tukwila twice now, and I won't go back again. Both times, the service was ridiculously slow, the staff was rude, and the food was mediocre at best, not to mention overpriced.

The first time, we waited half an hour for drinks, as we couldn't get a server to come by our table. After 20 minutes I went back to the hostess stand to make sure that they hadn't seated us in a closed section by mistake, and finally we got some service. We had a similar experience the second time, only this time the hostess forgot to seat us altogether. We were the only party waiting in the nearly deserted restaurant and after 15 minutes (we were told it would be 5 minutes) we inquired how much longer, and the girl was a total snot and said that they had been paging us. Our pager never went off, and we were sitting 5 feet away from the hostess stand and were the only ones there!

The last straw for me was on our second (and last) visit when the morbidly obese manager accused my 33 year old brother of "sneaking" sips of his wife's beer, underage. I thought he was joking at first, as my brother has aged well but certainly does not look under 21, but the abhorent man was quite serious and quite rude about it.

I understand that restaurants must be vigilant when it comes to underage drinking, but if this restaurant staff paid half as much attention to serving guests in a timely manner as spying on them, they might be able to get a decent review.

Skip the Claim Jumper. The Cheesecake Factory is right down the street, and for the money, it's a much better choice.

Make Reservations. We have been there several times and have a pleasant experiences. Here's a tip: make reservations! We do and have not waited more than 10 minutes. When we waited this long they aplogized and gave us a free appetizer. Our servers have always been pleasant.

It IS a busy place - not what I would call cozy and romantic, but we take three generations there and the menu is large enough that everyone finds something that they like.

Dieters beware: all portions are really for two not one (that's appetizer, dinner salad and entree and dessert.) We try to split whatever we can and still have plenty.

Big portions, large selection, long wait. I have been here several times. Most of their food is good, but the service is inconsistent, and there is often a long wait. We like the beer sampler tray, the potato cakes, cheese bread, blue cheese wedge salad, ore cart, and filet mignon. I did not like the Mediterranean ahi salad. Go for an early dinner before 5:00 to beat the crowds.

Fantastic....except the service.. I love this place. I and my girlfriend's go here to just chat and have a good time when I'm in town. But it seems to me like almost EVERY time I've been to Claim Jumper the service has been horrible. The meal is always fantastic, all of my friend's LOVE their chocolate 5 layer cake. We usually share an app and dessert between the 7 of us! and all fo us always have BOXES to take home after our meals! But sometimes it's not worth the LONG waits to even have someone come to your table, waiting for just WATER and never seeing a manager. A few times our food has been cold, and the server looked at us like it was our fault and scoffed. (trust me, we may be chatty, but once food is put infront of us we are on it like a pack of dogs on the three legged calf!!!)

I would go back, and do when I'm in Seattle. But Bad service really brings down the great food.

Raw Hamburgers with required 17% tips. Extremely inept service and all wait staff should have to receive their own service. We arrived at 11:00 and didn't get a drink order until 11:20 and couldn't order until 11:30 and promptly served by about 12:15 (raw hamburger included). Much too long a wait. Theres no excuse for BAD SERVICE! Signed: never coming back again! But my burger was good. We also HAD to pay a 17% gratuity (after taxes)! OOuch!

So Very Yummy!. The selection is great and prices are reasonable. Portions are huge - my daughter and I share a meal and still have enough leftovers for both of us the following day. The southwest eggrolls, french fries, and bow tie pasta with blackened chicken are all very tasty. However, our favorite is an off-menu item - Irish nachos with a cup of chili (not a bowl - the quantity is too much). Great casual atmosphere. We've never tried the desserts because we never have room; think that needs to be a special visit all its own.

I'll be jumpin back here soon!. I have been going to this Claim Jumper since it opened. We experienced bad service the first time, however, they made up for it with free dessert. Since then, we continued to go to go back. I've been at least 5-10 times, and would go back more often if I could. Their portions are HUGE. Everything is good, but my favorite would have to be the ribs. If you're planning on bringing children along with you, this is the perfect place. Another great thing is, there is tons of shopping around if you have to wait. PS: Their fries are delicious.
