Citysearch Editorial Review. Every neighborhood in Seattle deserves to have a nice, quick place to drop in and get reasonably priced sushi, and for a long time, Sam’s was the only choice in Ballard. While many a newer joint has opened up, Sam’s has remained a stalwart with a dedicated clientele. The restaurant does the best possible with its rather unfortunate basement location, and does a good job, as you’ll barely realize how long you’ve been there when you head back up the stairs. The sushi tastes fresh, though don’t expect to be blown away by creativity. Sam’s plays by the rules and has all the classic sushi bar dishes on the restaurant. Creative specials. The sushi chef at Sam's Sushi in Ballard is exercising his creative style to positive affect. Last night I had the special "Monkey Brain's". Love this place!. My husband and I have been going to Sam's weekly for a year. The service is fantastic, and the sushi has always been really good. The miso soup is soooo good! The prices are reasonable. It is our favorite Ballard spot. We have gone to other sushi places in Seattle and elsewhere but we keep coming back to Sam's…
great sushi at a reasonable price. I love this place! Every time I've gone to Sam's I've had really good sushi (fresh, big pieces) and the prices are really reasonable. I just took some friends visiting from out of town there the other night-- there were 4 of us and we stuffed ourselves silly with sushi and sake, and the bill was still less than $100! I've never been disappointed here. The service is good, the atmosphere is nice and casual, and the servers are friendly. What's not to like?…
Won't go back!. My husband and I had high hopes for this place since we just moved here and had heard that Ballard had good restaurants. The sushi was not good, the combo plate my husband got had 5 pieces of lumpy, stringy sushi and it cost way more than it was worth. Overall, the sushi restaurants are terrible in Seattle and this one was the worst by far.…
